RBTA help

I was given a nice RBTA last week, and it has looked great up until tonight when I got home. I fed it silver sides 1 time this week, and it ate them just fine. I tested my water tonight, and here is what I got.

Nitrate = 15 .... I know it is high and I am not sure why. I have a RDSB on my tank, and I am going to try to take that off and see how it does with out it.

Calcium = 400
Mag = 1380
Alk = 9dkh
ph = 9

I did not test my salt, I don't have a refractometer yet. I will have to take it to a buddies tomorrow and check it there.

I have not done a water change in a week and a half.

All my other coral is looking great.

Any idea

Opppssss. type O. PH is 8.2

The anemone is just like shriveled up and tiny. It looks like a sick mushroom on like a rock. Not like the other day when it was out and full.

they can look pretty terrible a day or two after feeding but this is totally normal. Just getting rid of waste. Should look much better in the next 24-36 hrs. If not then you can be worried

I hope it kicks out of it. I fianlly am getting the things that I want in the tank and he is one of them.

I have never seen PH that high before, should be closer to 8.2 to 8.3

He said it was a typo, his PH is 8.2. Sounds like he is expelling waste and should be back to normal in a couple of hours.

He still looks bad. I also lost a blue millie today. Not sure if the two are related, but it is getting a little hairy. My overflow also seems really high today, like somthing is in my drain and slowing it down. I have all my fish.

This hobby is great when it all is going good, but when stuff is hitting the fan, it sucks

Just an update..... it still looks like hell. It looks like it has been beat to heal and put threw a blender on one side. What the hell could have caused that? Could the silver side that I fed him caused this?

This sucks bad. I finally got one that looked awesome, and this is happening.

SO will it pull through, or is there something I can do to help it along, or am i just stuck watching it die

DId you find out your salinity yet? I would suggest that your next purchase should be a refractometer before buying anything else. That might explain the milli too -- if the salinity is off.

Can you get a picture of it?

And I personally won't use sliversides any more. I lost one anemone from feeding it to it.

Where can one get a refractometer and how much do they cost?? I have had problems using the hydrometer with air bubbles and such.

There is not a LFS in my area that sells them. they all promote the hyrdrometers. They will tell you that the refractometer is better, but they can't compete in price to sell them.

My salt is at 1.025. I checked it today.

I know. I need to get one for sure, and should have got one long ago and just put it off for that next great looking coral
