RBTA Splitting

Can someone describe what a RBTA looks like when it is splitting?

I have had mine for about 3 weeks. It is a tank reared so it comes from a line that is used to splitting. It is in a 40b under a 20k 400w MH pendant.

I was able to buy the LR it had attached to since it's foot was buried so deep and it has not moved an inch since being put in the tank.

It appears to have a slit almost 1/2 through about 1/8" from the mouth. This slit is much darker in color than the rest of the nem. There is no look of necrotic tissue or sloughing flesh at the slit so doesn't appear to be any type of infection.

The nem has also refused to eat anything after the 1st week.

I'm not concerned at all about health as it looks great.

And as a great side not my percula took to the nem last night.

Steve,

The RBTA will be deflated and will most likely look sick. They will literally look like they are tearing apart. Usually split right down the middle but can do just about anything during this process. I had one split into three pieces and after a week or so, i had three different size nems. They may stay deflated for long periods as well after they split. I currently have about 80 RBTA that began in oct 08 with 9 nems. So Ive seen this happen many times.
