RBTA wilted when lights went off?

I have had my RBTA for about a week, tank is a 25g AIO.

Salinity 1.025
Temp :75-78*
Nitrate: 0
P04: 0.06~ish

24x3w bridgelux led fixture.

Tank is going on 7 months old.

Nem is probably about 2" accross when bubbled up. Was fine when I added it, hid under a rock for 2 days, came out earlier this week towards the top of rock work. Has been bubbled up during day and stretched out & eating well at night.

Tonight it was fine until lights went off then when about 20 mins later I walked over to tank to clean all the crud off my urchin and the nem was a little shriveled ball looking wilted & sick. Still is fully colored up with red tentacles & green oral disc.

.. never-mind just checked again and now it is all pulled into itself, it did this last night about an hour after eating mysis (pulling into itself).

I know from reading a lot about nems that they can invert themself which is a bad thing.

na if there was I would have quarantined it already.

I think it might just be still getting adjusted to lights & them coming on & off. Was under MH in store & leds now.

bta moved a but in the rocks and was back to normal this morning.. still would like to know the cause of this behavior because it had me freaking the f' out last night! Was testing water, changing filters and getting ready to do a 911 water change.

For what it's worth, I have just added a GBTA and it has done the same thing a couple of times. It has not moved since added to the tank and generally looks healthy the other times. It has eaten twice now ok too.

Waiting for an answer too!

Generally when they close in on themselves mean they are not really happy. Could be to numerous reasons. Mine ocassionally do it when they split. Usually for me it means they will move soon.

If water and color/stickyness is good, they probably just haven't found their "sweetspot".

I've only bought 2 BTA(1 rose/1standard), but has turned to well over 30 in 6 years. If you kill a tank split BTA, you are doing something seriously wrong.

Its fairly new to your tank, give it time.

Yea mine is tank raised, thank you for the info.

I figured it would move again because for god knows what reason it picked the last spot in the tank I expected to see it. It went and settled up at the top rear of my rock work right up against a ball of chaeto I moved into the DT, so it constantly had chaeto strands going into it.

I know they are supposed to be hardy but at the same time anemones can crash hard so I got concerned.

Thank you!

My rbta is the same way. When light goes on he moves his body to top of the rock but not his base and at night he becomes this small little ball. He is very healthy and eats good. I guess some of them sleep at night.

first...your BTA should shrink in size every night as that is what they typically do when the lights go out. Mine do it every night as well.

second, since you mentioned you are feeding it mysis I could only imagine that the extreme shrinking or shriveling of the nem your are witnessing is likely just the BTA expelling it's waste, which it will do usually a day of two after eating...which by the way would be confirmed by visible "slimy strings" being expelled from the nems mouth

if you can post a pic or two showing what you are seeing, it may very well confirm my presumptions...

FWIW, IMO I would leave the nem alone for a couple of weeks without feeding it and wait for it to complete it's own acclimation to both your tank conditions and lighting...
