rc sloow?

Pretty much. There is a thread in the feedback and suggestion forums. Apparently, it has to deal with the number of users, amount of content, etc. I guess vBulletin gets slow with a forum of this size. Maybe it's time to move more archive content and get it out of the main database or something.

Waiting for the time everyone from URS gets frustrated enough to leave. I'd happily set up a bulletin board system just for URS. I've got a hosting business on the side and have plenty of server bandwidth/space.

Yes, it took me 60 seconds to load this thread. All of Reef Central has been like this for a few weeks. They need to make some upgrades to the servers.

I thought we had one a few years ago. I think one of the guys at ARC set it up but then it stop existing a few months later.

If someone wants to set up a poll to see if we could get enough interest that'd be awesome. I can have it set up one of the weeknights this week.

It's pretty bad.Glad you postedthis now I won't have to buy a new computer.

Reef Central is aware of the issue and they are supposed to be fixing it. If it is like this by Feb 1st. I would be shocked.

Even on its good days it is the slowest site I visit.

I messaged one of the site admins and they blame it on the software rather than the hardware they run. According to them it will never be fixed, just slightly improved above unbearable.

There are other sites using vBulletin that are larger but load faster. They may not do things like check birthdays, blog posts, etc. though. I'm not sure what is slowing everything down, but I do know one thing. If my servers took half the time time to load pages and return queries that RC does, it wouldn't be acceptable.

I posted / asked the same question 3 weeks ago... but it got deleted.

You're not the only one to feel the hand of big brother when commenting on this issue.

Have you folks visited the other sites dedicated to our interests? Their communities aren't as big, but they have suddenly started growing.
