Re: Nitra-Guard Bio-cubes from Orca Labs promises denitrification free of Redfield's

I'm not sure why you would want to...
Zeovit takes care of n and p very efficiently..

...and so does ClearFx. In at least a dozen of my systems I have removed any kind of pellet media and replaced the canisters or reactors with ClearFx.
The difference in 7 to 10 days is amazing.

I think all the research on the science is great but you really need examples of the products we discuss in action
The cavet of using this product is it lasts for 4 months in a reef system.

From what I can ascertain from the contents listed on the container it has carbon, gfo media and an organic source in it. Hence IMO why the wait for up to 10 days for reduction in nitrates or phosphates.
Or..could it be just a reduction in organics which controls the nitrate and phosphate level.
If you wish you can check my web page for examples of some of the systems I am using only ClearFx on(plus a big mother skimmer...lol)

Am I allowed to post the link to my website here?

Sincerely
Back on track and in the pack again Scotty

Here's what ReefCentral says about ClearFx....

Did you ever try the Nitra-Guard Bio-Cubes, which is what this thread is about?

LOl--yes, I started the thread:headwally: with the intention of finding out if it could do what it says it could.

Thanks for the links Regalangel. I have to admit that I have not been on RC very much lately and am spending time catching up.

Also, we (the reefers in my area) were not aware that the polymer material was just coated gfo. This is what probably allows the product to last longer. We were under the assumption that the polymer material was causing some kind of bacterial action and that was why the product has worked so effectively for us.

I still use pellet reactors and have used the nitra guard productin cases of high nitrate readings. I have found that the nitra guard product is no different then any other pellet product being that nitrates are the deliminiting factor.

I guess my success with the product is that it contains a lot of gfo reducing the phosphate levels in my thanks--assuming that has been more a factor then nitrate reduction.

Again sorry for pointing out to me , my lack of background reading on the site lately before posting.

Perhaps if you have the chance you could provide more information on your experience with Nitra-Guard Bio-Cubes in high nitrate tanks, ie size of tank and nitrate readings; also time to see a nitrate reduction and to what level. Type of tank, number of fish, etc. would most interesting.

Always enjoy reading your posts as you have some excellent experiences!
Thanks,
RA
