Steve, what did you use to connect the pvc to the acrylic, looks like part of a union connected to the elbow. Did you also glue the fitting to the acrylic & what glue are you using ?

Adnup, I like the uniseals but I am leary of them leaking.
Never used them before so I do not know. any advice you can offer on them ?

Thanks, I'm not sure which to use, a 1250 or 1048. I don't plan on running any calcium media in mine and don't want it to fluidize as I can't see in mine.

The 1250 shouldn't make the sulfur perc , like a fluidize reactor . That is the same pump Schuran uses on their sulfur reactor .

I glued a short piece of union to the 3/4" PVC pipe, to make it have more surface for the weld-on 40 to hold it to the tube. If you glue the PVC to the acrylic tube you have to be REAL CARFULL not to bang it or it may crack. I like the uniseals but they cost money. Well post more pics tomorrow.

I've only used them one other time on a 48" in tall skimmer and they worked great! Never a leak. I think Reefrubble has about 8 of them on his skimmer.

adnup , you are correct I do have them on my skimmer . They have a 25 year life expectancy . They are easy to use, and they give some cushion to your connection . Ted

The reactor is finely running, had a problem with the top gasket. Tested the tank- Nitrates 5, DKH 10.0, CAL 470. Out of the reactor Nitrates 0, DKH 9, did not test CAL. I used one bag of EHFI Substrat, it is sintered glass and 3/4 container of Carib-Sea NO-NO3 Sulfur/Aragonite Blend. It is being fed from a tee in the return line.

Yeah, looks great. I wish I had room to have the pump under the SR. It looks so clean.

Nice work guys!!! Can I ask what tools were used to make the reactor that has teh Eheim underneath? I think I noticed you grooved out the bottom plate for the cylinder.... what did you use as far as tool are concerend. I am in the process of gathering the materials for this project.

I used a 6" hole saw to cut a grove in the base, then hand cut the grove wider with a dermal tool. It helps a lot to have a table saw. To drill the holes I use a standard hole saw. If you use the Uniseal in the pipe holes it will be safer and easier.

My tank went to zero and I did not up the flow enough. The reactor got full off slim. Washed it with ro/di. I still think it's to big.

Mine also slimmed up, it clouded the tank so I pulled it offline and cleaned it out. I think I'm going to wait to put it back and see where the nitrates go. They've been at zero...
