reactor tunning in ?

sorry to jump in but this is good to know i have the octopus 3000 controlling my c/a reactor i had the probe in the sump reading of 8.2 to 8.35 now i will start a new approach i will set my octopus to 6.5 and insert my probe to a cup and see what changes in my tank

btw this are my readings is now 12.00am i will test tomorow at 12am to see changes

alk--------->7.0kh-------2.51 salifert test

cal--------->500.

pH---------->8.3

nitrate------0.0

phosp-------0.0

amonia-----really low

another ting all my corals look really good and open nice and happy ill see whats the grove rate with this changes

OK 48 hrs s/p changes results

OK 48 hrs s/p changes results

Alk 2.50 meq/l- a drop from 4.00meq/l
calcium 425
mag 1325
phosp 0
ph 8.2
nitrates 0
nitrites 0
ammonia 0
Reactor settings:
50ml/min effluent
dpm at 45/min
ph st at 6.5

Gasman, what corals do you have in your tank right now? I drop of 1.5 meq/L is unlikely in a 48 hr period in your tank is unlikely, especially since the Calcium is still at 425.

10 frags
7 colonies
2 clams
couple of froggies
some xenias/someblastos
I triple checked it seemed also unlikely but its true
BTW i dosed calcium to bring it up from my prevoius reading of 350 and 400 two days ago-cbalance 20 ml's

There is a certain amount of human error involved in these tests. This could account for some of the difference. It also seems unlikely that you would get exactly 2.50 and 4.00. Please post what your readings on the salifert test kit are (mL used on the titration). Sorry if I am being picky, just trying to help you the best I can.

hey chris i checked my original post and the numbers were wrong. Doing to many things at once while at work.lol sorry for the misunderstanding and good looking out, Sorry if I am being picky, just trying to help you the best I can.LOl I like picky >
s/p 48 hrs with the above settings:
seachem alkalinity kit

7drops/2= 3.5meq/liter
the actual number was 3.5meq/l

gasman, ditch the seachem test kit! It is not accurate enough to tune a calcium reactor. You need to be using a salifert test kit.

salifert -iused up the last little bit of it prior
both seachem and salifert had the same values-again both are like a year old -idug them from my tanks graveyard
,i'll get a new one tomorow
will keep u posted.thanks.

hey chris specifically 3.54(7dkh) on salifert not much different than the seachem 3.50
looks like its going well. I'm ready to pick up about10-12 beautiful frags and wanna make sure that i'm in the ball park.
Thanks again for all your help.

Ok chris new parameters
alk continues to be exactly 3.54 according to two diff measures with salifert
calcium jumped from 425 to 550, my effluent rate is at 50ml/min(measured with a shot glass with specific markings( lol i feel as anal as you , just joking)
any suggestions- considering droping my ml a bit.
Tomorow I'm getting 12 new additions crazy frags( lokani-turaki-leng sy-miami orchid, really some nice stuff) i really wanna get a hold of this parameters as best as i can.
Thanks in advance for your help. Hey roger if u r out there pls chime inn at any time TY:rollface: :rollface:
If its ok with u ill give u a call and we can have a reactor talk.

Have you added anything else? kalk? I'm not sure how the calcium could have gone up so much without the alk going up. HM. That is a very drastic change in the calcium without the alkalinity changing. You got me stumped.

LOL Roger i got to tun and take care of an emergency. But i u dont mind i'll call u tomorow during the day , thanks
Some great frags coming my way man .
will talk thanks!

chriss i did dosed some about three days ago and thats what we r seeing so. i will keep u guys psoted. will talk thaks.

Rogger, I want wrasse pictures!

The wrasses are slowly coming out for seconds at the time but it will be hard to take pics until they are more confortable. You are welcome to come see them if you like, I will post some pics of who ever I can capture later anyway.
