Real messed up zoas

So, after not worrying about my closed zoas, as advice from others said, they started to get worse. Some are brown all the way through now, some have a white crust over their mouths, and many just plain melted. I'm stuck now for what to do. Anybody know a miracle cure, or something that might help the zoas pull through? I assumed that they were like this because of light, so I moved them farther down in my tank. Please give advice.

When you say Nitrates, how high a level are we talking about here.

There is no miracle cure for Z's and P's, mostly some people dip in Lugols as their general dipping procedure for ailling looking polyps. But if your polyps are not looking as good as you say dipping might just make it worse and stress the polyp more. You culprit might be your parameters not to the Polyps liking, probably was stressed already then when placed in the tank in which it probably thought was least favorable just stressed it more. Got pics of it?

My salt is 1.024, which I know is a little low. Nitrates are about 40 ppm (Not a super accurate test kit, just API). And I do have pics, but I don't know where. Just give me a bit to take some more.

any time this has happened to mine i just try to not worry and hope for the best. most of the time they mostly/completely recover from it, every once in a while they melt off. *shrug

I've heard that vitamin c will help. Anybody know anything about this? And the zoas I have are on a big rock, they are a nice sized colony with 40 to 50 polyps. It only cost me about 30 dollars, but I don't want that money to go to waste.

And now RC is giving me an error every time I try to upload a photo. Sorry, it looks like no pics for now.

I prefer using Photobucket to host my pictures. Once on PB, all one needs to do is copy the IMG code from PB and paste it in the forum text box.

Well, I've had them for little over a week now, and I bought them from Petco. I know petco doesn't have the best quality, but I knew what I was doing when I bought the zoas. And no, I can't pick the stuff off. Should I just remove the diseased zoas? And does anyone know if Melafix works on zoas? And what about calcium supplements?

In your situation, the best thing you can do now is just keep good water parameters and hope for the best. If you aren't sure what it is, treating it or supplementing it may just bring it to its doom even faster.
