Chemiclean can kill off your pods and chaeto as well as some other macro. Why I said to not allow it in the fuge. Full strength is always necessary as I personnally have had better luck with it at 1/2 strength and recovering from it more quickly.
I agree that it will come back if you don't find the root cause of it.

I have several saltwater tanks of all sorts from plant, predator,reef, sunlight only etc...
I have had a problem with algea and cyno bacteria on a 40 reef tank and tried everything...
One day when buying MORE blue leg hermits I came across a 3" SEA HARE. I researched on my phone in the store and decided to give it a try. $20 bucks.
THIS THING IS AWESOME !!!
They will die if there is no algea so beware of that. It's been 2 months and the corals are growing great, no algea and cyno bacteria is rarely on the sand.
Imo I wouldn't do that much water changes as Well.

It's frustrating.
I stand by my previous recommendation.
Stop water changes and topoff with kalkwasser to maintain SG 1.026
Make sure skimmer is running properly.
Syphon the algae (or whatever it is) out.
Bump levels with B-ionic if necessary.

Get some snails and run the lights less.

Topoff = makeup water for evaporation.
It should be freshwater -not saltwater.
Better yet, rather than freshwater it should be limewater (kalkwasser).
I never mess with lights when battling algae...
And EVERYONE is ALWAYS CONSTANTLY battling algae.

I don't know what it is from the pictures but it resembles sponge growth I get from time to time ( sulfur sponge,aka cliona celata) ;sometimes starts with a greenish tint but gets yellow. If that's what it is it won't sjiphon easily but can be scrapped and peeled off.
Are you doing any organic carbon? It may fuel it.
I do not recommend chemi clean or balckouts.
Using limewater in lieu of two part supplements for calcium and alkinity will raise the pH but I'm not sure that's the problem.
I'd remove it whatever it is where it is and clean up any detritus accumulations in the tank.

i'm sure tom has forgot more than i ever knew. 25 vs 1.026 isn't important. i'd maybe check refractometer against a lab grade solution. check tds . add di if you haven't already. i'm assuming you have rodi, not ro . bacteria cultures are tricky, outsmarting one takes work. i'd consider a conch or three, manually remove as much as possible, and maybe do a big *** water change. spring cleaning of the sump and equiptment shoundn't hurt. i agree with tom , poop accumulations are a probabale culprit. maybe give a good powerhead blast to shake it up. tom at the reef shop uses tap water and does great. he also is a big fan of the bigasswaterchange.
