reasonable place to buy pipe fish

i was wondering were i could go online to get a pair of pipe fish. i like the coral banded the best. so far both my lfs run them about 30.00. also is it overkill to try to keep them in a 5.5g, currently no fish just rics,zoas, trumpet.

5.5 gallons is way to small for pipefish IMO. liveaquaria.com has pipefish, I don't know of anywhere that sells them in pairs though.
I don't think you will be able to find them for much less then $30 with shipping though. I think it would be best just to get them at your LFS if they are healthy and eating.

i know from what i read it is min 30g and some species 50g. i just dont know if i want to do dwarf seahorses. they look nice but just sit there.

look on seahorse.org they had pipefish in 2.5 gal tanks at IMAC

The species they had in those tanks were African blue stripes and juvenile dragon faced pipes. They were for display only and by no means was that their permanent homes. The blue stripes went into a 90 gallon reef and the dragon faced went into a 37 gallon reef tank.

i think you can get away with a bluestripe in a 10 or 15
