Rebuilding my 55 gallon

Got cheato, snails and hermit crabs.
Lights are on for the first time after 25 days of cycling, gonna start with about 7 hours and go from there.

Thank you Kat for the Cheato and it was a pleasure meeting you! I hope that filter sock worked out ok for you :)

I promised Kat that I'd post a picture of my DSB bucket. I haven't had one before and i cant see how it could hurt to try it.
The bucket is also a fuge, it feeds off of my return, controlled by a valve and set to a very low flow. After it returns to the sump.

view of the sump, its 20 long. The red valve is for fuge/dsb flow control. Its set so low that i cant visually see any flow, may be 4 gallons/hr.

I love DIY and here are some things I have finished in the past week:

ATO - radioshack relay, project box, red/green lightup switch and extension cord cut in 1/2. total cost about $16, red light to remind me to turn it back on after a water change = priceless. :)

New overflow drain that's extremely compact and silent. It emits a low air-draw whisper but its too low to bother anyone. Combined with sump silencer ( red arrow in second pic), I have no gurgling in tank or sump with mag 5 running full on. total cost = under $10

thank you, Eugene! lovin' the DiY stuff. Also, what ply plastic sheeting did you use to protect the surrounding environment? I need to do that also.
