Here is his thread - he is pulloing 12-15 schfm from it and has modded some more but has been working on modding another pump

Ok, I've followed that one. Good air for that pump.

I think we are better served in this case using the OTP3000 as the recirc pump. I'm confident I can get a nice steady 40 SCFH with a reasonable water movement (ie less turbulence) with the OTP3000 setup as a recirc. I only want to feed a max of 200GPH through the skimmer as well so having full control of the feed volume is very important.

drauka....with those 2 pumps you could easily get 60+ scfh, which is way too much for an 8" body. you might try it on a 10" tube. i really don't think that you need to feed your skimmer with a NW pump. with the right recirc pump you can easily take care of the air needed for the skimmer body. if you still want to do the 2 nw option, i would switch them....use the 802 for the feed pump, and the 3000 for the recirc. it's best on a recirc skimmer to have lower throughput...like 1 - 1 1/2 times your system volume...and the 3000will prob be putting out about 500-600gph. too high for a feed pump, unless you have a 400 gal tank...and then you'll need much larger than 8" skimmer body. :)

Thorsky, did you ever get the otp-3000 as a recirc completed? I have the DNW-200, and I've done all the mods I can and I can only get 26 or so SCFH.

thanks

I would consider one OTP 3000 to be alot for a 6" diameter body, even as recirculating. 1000lph or 35scfh is about the max for a 6" diameter body... and thats even a bit high unless you are able to get pumps that have a very low flow for the air they make (eheims, Aquabees, Sicces, etc... not OCeanrunner/Sedra/Gen-X types... too much water flow).

BTW, was this skimmer supposed to be single pass or recirc?

I put a Sicce PSK2500 on my AquaEuro Recirc 265... click on the red house. The skimmer is equal to an octo recirc 200 I think (8" diameter, 30" tall, but with the sicce pump, really I only have bubbles in the top 20" of the skimmer, so 24" of height is all I would have needed.
