Hi all,
i have a 370 gallons reef tank, rectangular built in wall, its dimensions are 106",25,5",27.5".My overflow is on the right back side of the tank and its dimensions are 7",11".my aquascape is like a long island which has a cave in the middle.i have 3 returns from the sump:2*1000 gph returns next to the overflow pointing 45 degrees downward and the third next to them 320 gph and pointing downward...
So my question is:
i have 3 Tunze 6100 and i want my tank to be a mixture of LPS and SPS.Any recommendation about their placement? Please i need help!!!!!!!!!!

Probably on one side, the side closest to the majority of SPS I would place two pumps blowing straight across the tank about 6" in from each corner. On the other side I would place the pump in back corner and aim it to the front center.

Hi roger,
thanks for your reply... should i put the 2 tunze next to the overflow straight across and the other one on the other back side pointing to the center?

For performance I would put the two on the other side and a little higher then the single one so the two will push more stuff to the overflow. Also I would get a controller they are great and I am still learning how to use mine. I have a similar setup with two waveboxes on one end and a 6200 on the other end and using the wave box controller to run all 3. That is in a 180 though with no sand on the bottom so I have a lot of flow.

hi waynesworld,
thanx for your reply.i have an IKS controller running my system.so my tunze are connected to a variable socket output so i control the pumps with it at different outputs.anyways should i put the pump straight ahead or inlined?

Yet another opinion....

If you have the $$ I would suggest 2 pumps on each side. I have a 6' x2' x 2' and found that with 2x 6201 at opposite ends , pointing at each other I could not get sufficient flow over all SPS corals. I have since added 2 more 6201s (a total of 4 6201 which might be a record;). Running them at opposite sides, facing accross the tank, at slight offsets I am getting the flow I want now.

Maybe I am overdoing it but I have a fair amount of rock and livestock that (I suspect) is affecting water flow. I use an AC3 and AquaController so if I needed to I could always turn it down (I don't think I need to though).
