Recommendations for a Quiet Return Pump

My current return pump is a Little Giant (model M-MDQX-SC, 115V), which works well, but is extremely noisy. I'm looking for recommendations for a much quieter pump. My tank is 150 gallons and the top of the tank stands about 6 feet high (in terms of required lift). I also have a Reeflo Blowhole pump that powers a closed loop system. It's extremely quiet, but it causes heat problems. So, in replacing the Little Giant, I'd prefer a pump that doesn't also cause heat issues. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

take a look at the iwaki line. I used one for years - very quiet, reliable pumps. The DART I'm using now is dead silent and does not seem to cause a heating problem as you describe with your current pump. It is one a 150DT/120 fuge/50 sump, and powers my reactors as well.

Just an FYI on the BlowHole..the motor uses the water to cool itself so if it is put on a ssytem where it is circulating too quickly, it will add heat..the BH manual lists the minimum tank sizes..try turning the BlowHole down to see if it cuts the heat..if it does not then contact Reeflo and we will solve for you...BTW the Dart runs at half the speed of the LG, the motor is more efficient and the pump head has minimal contact with the motor=no heat

Thanks for both responses! I will look into the iwaki and the DART. Question for Reeflo/Sequence: is your DART as quiet as your BlowHole? I will give the BlowHole full marks when it comes to being quiet...it's dead silent, which I love. If both pumps were that quiet, I'd be very happy!

As for the heat, I'm not at home now, but I'll check the setting on the BlowHole when I'm back next week. I'm pretty sure it's already on the low setting, but I could be wrong. If I'm wrong, I'll turn it down and see if that helps. If it's already on low, then I'll contact Reeflo as you suggest, because right now it adds some serious heat. Thanks again.
