Recommendations to GET Cyano?

Im doing a research study for a professor. I want to get Cyano as quickly as posibble and have it grow all out.

Shall I put rocks in my tank that already contain cyano and dose as many nutrients as possible?

Low flow, lots of detritus, and some old power compacts should do the trick :) If you don't have or can't find some old PC lights Cyanobacteria seems to love the Lights of America bulbs from Home Depot.

leave the lights on for a long time. throw lots of fish food in there. dont have any type of flow in the tank and make sure there is a lot of detritus.

You guys.... come on, won't do no good to cause ammonia spikes.

I'd say, run a normal tank. Remove skimmer and any algae.

There's no need to add a rock with cyano to inoculate the tank. There's already plenty of cyano present in ever reef. If there wasn't you would be in trouble. It's just not blooming and forming visible mats.

My suggestion would be to run an otherwise normal tank but with low flow and add low nitrogen, high phosphorus fertilizer.
