Red/Blue Fish 180 Stocking Suggestions

Following up on a previous thread, I'm still kind of brainstorming ideas for the last few fish to add to my 180. I do keep a lot of corals and a few shrimp. Would ideally like to keep it a full reef tank, but I'm taking some risks with the inverts. Looking for things that aren't yellow or white.

Currently:

  1. Yellow Coris Wrasse
  2. Mystery Wrasse
  3. Leopard Wrasse
  4. Yellow Tang
  5. Magnificent Foxface
  6. Longnose Hawkfish
  7. Matted Filefish
  8. Diamond Goby
  9. Niger Trigger

I know there are some risky ones in there, mainly the trigger, but so far the shrimp have been fine after a month.

I've been flirting with the idea of a purple tilefish, blue spotted puffer, or harlequin tusk. I know the latter two are very risky.

Any thoughts or ideas? Also, any opinion on when you'd consider me overstocked?

If I am you I would keep breeding units if ever possible. I suggest at least two Leopard wrasses and at least 2 flame angels

Harlequin Tusk is great. My anemone crabs and cleaner shrimps are just fine with the Tusk

How long have you had the tusk? I'm really tempted to risk it, but they seem very likely to go after everything. If I did, I'd like to try a small one, but I never see small ones available.

You don't have to dabble in breeding. Fish behavior is a lot more natural with mates. Some fishes are solitary like Tusk, but other fishes are much more natural in breeding units. Mating behaviors of fishes are so incredible. Also their best coloration are reserved for trying to impress fish of the opposite sex.
In you have not seen clown fish laying eggs in your tank, or spawning of Flame angel or mating dance of Mandarin, you really miss a huge part of what make reef-keeping so satisfying.

Regarding Harlequin Tusk, I would add small fish and shrimps in before you add the Tusk. Either that or add the small fish at night when the Tusk sleeping. A small fish or shrimp disoriented when first drop in the tank are easy prey for predators, and Turks are great predators. The will eat all your small snails. I have thousands of sub 2mm snails breeding in my tank. This population was wipe out in about a month. Now only the ones that hide during the day survive, estimate less than .1% of the original population. I have cleaner shrimp pair and anemone crabs. No problem. I just returned for out of town for 4 night, 5 days. No feeding and the little fishes and shrimp and crabs are all accounted for and still in the tank.
I have always have Tusk in my large tanks. This one about 3 years in my tank. The last one was spooked at night when I tried to do water change because my huge Haddoni spawned. He ran into my Gigantea and was killed
