Red Carpet Anemones

The owner of my LFS has one of these. Are they rare? Or is he just full of S? :rolleye1:

Yes they are on the rare side, just our of curiosity what does he want for the said "RARE RED" carpet anemone? Make sure you research here on RC for anemone dying, it is a common practice with some wholesalers to make a larger profit and usually kills the anemones!

That is nice, I would check with the base to make sure the color is the same throughout the tissue, any strays or miscolors on the base is a dead giveaway. Nice though.

What is the price on those? I really like the purple one myself.

Quite honestly, that purple haddoni is harder to come by then the red.

I'd grab the red, purple, and yellow. Those are just too good looking.

Man that purple one is unreal....i wish the LFS around here would get some nice nems like that. the yellow one looks either bleached or dyed IMO. but either way i would get the purple over the red.

How can you tell an anemone is dyed?

They are all in bad shape. They won't last two days. Now let me have that LFS phone number so I can call and yell at them about keeping these anemones in such poor condition.

Seriously, that purple one and red one sale for 400+ by some vendor on line. I wish I can buy them.

ive personally never seen a yellow haddoni that was natural. thats all plus it looks really faded in the pic...lighting? idk but i still favor the purple one

The purple does look nice.

I was told that the Yellow are really just bleached green ones. I don't know this as a FACT, I've never kept Carpets. Just what I was told my a friend who does.

In the case of the yellow haddoni, it will likely remain yellow as it colors up, but it will be a brown mustard color rather than the lemon color that it is now.
I had a yellow one for over 7 years before I decided that I couldn't afford to keep feeding it tangs, dwarf angels, gobies, etc.

Thats a pretty good looking group of anemones.

I think the best one of the group is the Purple anemone.
There is a thread here on RC anmeone/clownfish forums about Carpet colors. You may want to look it up.
