Wow. So happy this thread was bumped. I recently visited my lfs and they had two of these things. 2 red carpet anemone about half dollar sized. They want $99 for each. When asked what species they were I got the reply " I'm not sure which one it is, but they arent the minis, these get pretty big"
I almost went nuts and bought one, assuming its a haddoni. Glad I didn't, and I'm glad this thread got bumped for me to see it.
Has anybody gotten a positive Id on a grown one yet? I'm real curious to know what it is for sure before I spend $100 for one and it not be what I'm expecting.

Definitely interested in seeing photos. Does it look like the photos posted above, where the mouth is green, or does it look more like the second photo that I posted?
The reason I ask is because I think there are two types of these red anemones that have been seen in the past few months.
The first, is as seen in the second photo that I posted, appears to be a baby haddoni. I would consider this extremely rare, and would expect to see only one specimen come in.
The second, are the ones with the green centers and what appears to be black tips on the tentacles. I'm guessing that these are mini-maxis or some type of colonial anemone, and that they have the ability to split (like BTAs) which explains why they are appears in large quantities.

I am guessing that Kedd is just posting for comparison. I think that we will see noticeable differences between his small Haddoni and the anemones posted earlier. If nothing else, I don't ever recall a Haddoni with a flourescent green mouth or red base, at any size.
I decided to pick one of these guys up too. I figure no matter what it is, I'm gonna love it, and if it is a Haddoni then it was a steal.

I could be wrong for sure, but from the column to the tentacles it sure looks like my last
S. haddoni.
I also thought most Maxi mini carpets prefered rock, this nem went straight for sand.
When I got it it was sold as a ricordea so the suprise was cool
Either way I'll know soon enough with it's growth rate.
I will say which ever it turns out to be the thing is crushing my hermit supply even though I feed the tank heavy and it gets plenty of that too.
I try to take some pics this weekend.

Kedd, I don't think reefvette is referring to your anemone. Your picture was much too difficult to clearly tell wether or not your anemone is an s. Hadonni. however, I do agree with reefvette that the rest are Definately maxi minis.

Does your anemone have the green center and dots at the tips of the tentacles, or is mostly a uniform color, like the photo of the baby haddoni that I posted?

they aren't haddonis. Its similar to what I had except without the green mouth.
