Red dragon experiences

I'm calling out anyone who's had one for awhile and grown large colonies. I have mine for 8 months and it probably 3 inches in height and 2 inches wide it grows super fast. I have notice it's very sensitive, time to time I see minstrel filaments in certain spots and the tissue looks irritated but after checking my parameters and running carbon it usually stops this but continues to grow during the episodes. It had the slightest bit of stn a few months ago and immediately grew back. Has anyone else had these problems ? I love this acro I couldn't imagine my tank without it and suggestions or advice would be great!

High light, NSW parameters and a very fast grower - like 1 inch to 8 inch colony in about 9 months with many frags taken off.

It is VERY easy to get damaged by pests or other irritants.

Sensitive to elevated N and P in my experience. Color loss seems much quicker to darken and longer to recover than others.

This is definately one of my all-time favorite SPS coral. The growth rate is fast and the pattern is very delicate looking.

Sadly though I lost this colony due to STN. Not sure why because all of my other SPS corals are fine. I had a Hawkins, another smooth skin acro, that did the same thing. Maybe it is a characteristic of smooth skinned SPS?

Anyway I did manage a very small, less than 1" frag. I'm hopeful it will eventually grow in to a nice colony again.....

I really wish you would share some pictures of your tank, maybe start your own thread here, or somewhere? :)

It may be getting the filaments to try and feed, so its probly a good thing and nothing to worry about. Pics would help but my acros go crazy when I feed, some more than others though.

I've tried this thing twice. Both times lost my frags after an accidental fragging. RTN in a few hours. Going to try one more time next month because I absolutely live this coral. Wish me luck, lol:)

Nice red dragons!! Does anyone have multiple colonies? I was think about fraging mine and growing a few for fun. I've notice mine grows fast around 8 on the alk.

I meant to post this last week here's mine after 9 months most of the explosive growth happened these past 2 months with a lower alkalinty 7-7.5dkh
