How about this Red A. gigantea
It is not my anemone but iBlueWater had this for sale sometime ago. Picture of it is still on the website.
I wish I can see the background so I can judge if the coloration have been taper with.
Looked at that pic many times. Not convinced its red or even pink.
IMO its a bleached purple and its the type of lighting giving it the pink hue. Would love to be proven wrong though:hmm2:

+1...Agreed. If there are red gigs...if there is anyone here in USA that has one You would think that that someone wiuld be ibluewater.
I actually considered buying a blue gig from Ibluewater online about a month ago, but when I asked around the people I knew in Cali no-one had heard of them. So I decided not to take the chance. Does anyone know if the folks at Ibluewater can trusted? Or has anyone done business with them? Thanks. I am not slamming them in any way, I just dont like to spend 400 dollars on something until I hear from at least SOMEONE that they have a good rep.

I feel exactly the same way. I personally don't think red gigs exist. I actually had an email exchange with Bob at iBlueWater and I joked with him that red gigs are like unicorns -- his response was that "red gigs are definitely in the unicorn department".
I considered purchasing a gig from Bob but backed off, mainly due to price but also due to a friend who purchased one and it not making it. This isn't to say say Bob's anemones aren't healthy, but as with many gigs, I guess they can all succumb to illness.
However, I do think that with this forum, as popular as it is, and with the popularity of gigs an general, that someone would have a healthy gig purchased from iBlueWater. Hopefully someone will chime in.

I've seen photos of yellow gigs, and I believe that they exist. However, I've never seen a photo of a red gig (at least one that shows the verrucae of a gig). I don't think you'll be wasting your time if you post photos! Looking forward to it.

If you have it then show it. If you don't have it then don't use the excuse "I would put pictures up but I wont waste my time.. naysayers will always be naysayers.." I for one would love to see it.

That's close, but I'm betting a lot of people will say that it's purple/magenta.
The pic on the front of Martin Moe's "Marine Aquarium Handbook" (the older version) shows a pic of bleached gig with pink tips. If the anemone had zooxanthellae, I bet it would be red like a RBTA.
I hate to say this every time this topic comes up, but I swear to you I have seen 2 red gigs, as red as any red haddoni. It was at Quality Marine in the early 90's. The floor manager called me over when I came in because he knew I was an anemone/clownfish geek. There were two red gigs in the tank along with a couple greens and blues. He said that they had one in the week before as well that died. After getting me all excited, he told me they were very expensive but even if I had the money, he wouldn't let me buy them. He then flipped them over and showed me that they both had deep holes in their feet with the "spaghetti" fibers sticking out. If I had known they were the last ones I would ever see, I might have taken a chance on one anyway.
They would have died, but at least I would have some pictures.
