That's probably why we don't see mertensii in the hobby.

Keep an eye open and look around. The one in my avatar was $200 and just under 12" across, in Toronto. It was not a "special deal, *wink, wink*" kind of thing either. It was the straight up advertised price. A same size one was $400 in Mississauga; still bigger and cheaper than that DD one. You can also find real red ones but they seem to be smaller and go very fast.

We have really good stores in the GTA, especially in the past 5 years or so, and at certain times, you will find amazing anemones in abundance.

Mabe it is me but I like the smaller ones much better than larger ones. If I hav ea choice for the same price and coloration, I would choose the smaller one. For me the anemone's health is first, then coloration. Size have no impact other than the smaller the better.
It is still there all have to do with coloration and price. Gimmick or not. DD always show their animals in the best possible way. This anemone is best as is in the picture, which is not really healthy and so-so color. That and the price tag of 800 is why it is still there IMHO

2 possibilities here:

1) whoever wrote up the alert list for today didn't notice they already put up the red haddoni, yesterday
2) whoever was doing the final list for today realized they would have 2 red haddonis on the site at once and put the kibosh on that

It may also have been that they could not get a good picture of it... I know that has kept them from posting specimen in the past...

They do have a new pic up, but now it shows where a butterfly (most likely) has been eating the tentacles off.

The color is better. The baldness was there in the last picture.
