Red Hair Algae - throw rock away or fight it?

Looks like red turf algae.

See my earlier post above - 2 or 3 turbos should do the job; just give them a little time. Also, they are big snails so try to pick out the smallest ones you can find.

That picture of the red cotton candy algae is best tackled with the LARGE MEXICAN TURBO SNAILS ... yes, the ones that are the size of large jawbreakers. They eat it like it was ... cotton candy!

The large Mexican turbos seem to like the red stuff. Sadly, I can't seem to keep one alive in my 10g nano, though they live quite well in my 58g.

Also...even if the rock is algae and aiptasia infested, there is no reason to "throw it away". Leave it outside on your patio for a few weeks of baking sun and then re-cure it! (recure it so that all the dead stuff on it decays away and is "processed").

Bought 2 turbos today. I'll take some "BEFORE" pics tomorrow and if results are anything like what I'm hoping for, I'll take some "AFTER" pics in a few pics and post.
