red montipora

I got a red montipora at SWSW's super bowl sale. I swear it has grown since then. I'm curious about the color right at the edges of the plate. The edges are a much lighter color than the rest of the plate - almost white. Is this typical?

my green does that. It seems like the edges look almost dead, but later fill in with polyps. Should be fine.

okay, so I have the same one, assuming it's from rob's tank. The darn thing is being outcompeted by coralline. It's a red scrolling monti, I believe, and everything but the new growth is purple from coralline (so the center)! Has anyone else seen this issue?
