Red Open brain on the offense or defense

Are these the sweepers I have heard about from open brains, or is this thing being attacked. My tank is in the best shape is has ever been so I hope the reply is good. :D

they are mesinary filaments used to attack other corals(at the bottom right of the pic).. the feeders surround the mouth(top right of the pic, clearish with white tips)..

They are feeder sweeper tentacles. Mesinterial fillaments sre thiner strands and they don't surround the polyp in such an orderly way. Open Brains like to eat meaty food and it is probably hunting or it chemically smelled another coral and is looking for a fight.

Best Wishes,
Barry

i believe he is asking about the bottom right of the pic.. which is used when attacking something.. mesinary filaments..here is another pic in which they are used but this is with an acan echinata..my scolymia did this exact thing yesterday to a small kenya tree about 2 inches away..

ICURN please specify which you are asking about..thanks..

the feeder tentacles are in the top right of the pic along with the top/ mid left of the pic in which they surround the mouth..i assumed he was talking about the most focused part of the picture which would be the mesinary filaments..

Yes I was asking about what SVXH6 called the "mesinary filaments". I assumed that because they were in better focus, that more people would know what I was talking about. Sorry. :D I have always know what feeders look like, I try to feed once a week and they seem to know when it is Sunday. I have never had it put out the mesinary filaments before.

Thanks again
