Hi,

My quarantine is nearly ready and I'm planning on my fish list. I was thinking about adding a pair of Red Saddleback(Amphiprion ephippium). How are they ? Any special care for them ?

My fish list will be :
2x Red Saddleback
1x Humu Humu Trigger (Picasso)
1x Whitecheek tang or Purple Tang
1x still undecided

Thanks

They are not partifularly difficult to keep. I have handled many of them back when I was in fish retail and as a hobbyist.

I would like to comment that they do not take well to copper. I have used it on several occaisions and have always sufered losses. Also, they seem to be a little bit prone to catching brook.

I love my saddle backs. Tons of personality. When they get upset, they can be very vocal. The only bad thing (if it's a bad thing) is that they get quite large. My largest is well over 5 inches.

Although many books list Amphiprion ephippium's common name as Red Saddleback, most folks around here call them Fire Clowns so nobody gets them confused with A. polymnus. ;)

Although they are quite striking, most people who have had them say they are the meanest, nastiest clowns they have ever had. Putting them in a pair makes them worse.

Scrap what I said in my earlier post. I just read right over the scientific name of your fish. I thought you were talking about A. Polymnus

Thanks

After them, I will buy Picasso Trigger and WhiteCheek Tang and probably another tang (purple or ??) Will they fit well ?

Man i just lost my female Polymnus3wks I have a hell of a time finding just ! My lfs got a pair of tank raised from ORA but they are a Polymnus and Clarki mix of some type!
I really want another so id have to recommend the polymnus!

Hello........
