Does any one know anything about the Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse, not to be confused with the common cleaner wrasse. I can't seem to find much information about them online. Are they reef safe, are they easy/hard, do they really clean ect?

This is the common cleaner:

They're on the more difficult side to keep, but keepable. Yes they do clean. I've seen a pet store keep one for three years or so. Eats like a pig. I mean if you thought triggers can eat, this guy ranks a pretty close second.

Thanks for the info, I've found a little more online. Often called four line wrasse. Several sites say the are compleatly reef safe, others don't. Why the confusion? Do they only feed on coral polyps when they age?

Yes, they are obligate cleaners as juveniles (have to have ectoparasites and fish mucus in diet) and as adults, they must have coral polyps in their diet. If they are deprived at either of these stages, then it will spell disaster for the fish.

They usually don't do well at all. I'm sure there's a few other success stories out there, but I wouldn't buy the fish, which is sad, because I think they're gorgeous.
