Donna - How did the anemone situation turn out? If it hasn't moved maybe it will during the night.

My PC crashed yesterday. Recovery didn't help, so a reformat had to be done. Late this morning it crashed again, so I gave up on it - I think it was the motherboard. On a new PC now, trying to reinstall my favorite software. Lost so many things, and lost all of my tank pictures, other than what I have stored in Photobucket. Computers - love 'em and hate 'em! :) :(

:eek2: OMG!! That's a computer owner's worst nightmare!! I've been through that a couple of times and I sympathize with you. :( The problem is that sometimes it takes quite awhile until we notice what all we have lost!! Did you buy a new PC? I use a laptop & love it.

Anemone status: It seems to be settled ... the photo is not the best, but it does give you an idea of where it has come to rest for now.

Nice pic Donna! Is that Ricordea pulling its right lip back from the anemone or was it just coincidence? Yep, I got a new PC - a new desktop. I have 2 desktops and a wireless laptop downstairs - hooked up to a wireless router upstairs. The 2 desktops are hooked up via cable. I needed a multimedia PC with a TV tuner as my wife watches TV during the day on my PC's monitor, while she's on her desktop. I also record TV on my PC, and at times put movies or programs on a DVD to play on the TV downstairs. It'll take a week just to get my favorite software reinstalled - PITA!

Wow!! Your computer stock amazes me!! I guess you would have a lot of software to reinstall!!!

I'm thinking that I'll try to move the zoas & the ric ... I think the ric is on a frag, that hopefully I can move!!! My pic doesn't show up the lovely pink/purple tips of the anemone.

Thought I'd post an update of my RSM! I'm still debating on what skimmer I should get. I was offered an AquaC Remora pro but I think it may be too big; also it had no pump, slightly used for $75
What do you guys think, also if I should get it, what pump should I put on it?

Thanks

Donna - did you decide to move the corals, or was the anemone in a new spot this morning?

Scooterman67 - the tank is coming along nicely! On the Remora, if you get it, I'd recommend an MJ1200 - that's what they usually supply with the unit and it's not an expensive pump. You'd also need a sort piece of tubing and clamps to put the pump on, but I can't recall what size. I still don't know if it will fit in back with the RSM hood, but $75 is a good price.

Reefmack: The anemone didn't move last night. I moved the zoas but the ric cannot be moved... that's the one I'm worried about. I'm more concerned that it will sting the anemone??
The male clown sleeps in the anem every night ... during the day they are both in & out of it.

shamless plug :D

Okay... How do you drain and clean it? Does the top come off like a lid? If so, how does it fit on? It appears as though it is either sealed or the top just sits on the side panels.

Donna - an anemone expert I am certainly not! I was purely guessing that the anemone's have a pretty powerful sting based on things I've read like "The Sebae Anemone has a potent sting that may harm other anemones or corals as it moves about the aquarium." I've lost Ricordeas that were too close to my Frogspawns and Torches (Euphyllia sp.) but I have no first hand experience with anemones. With several folks keeping anemones in their RSM's surely one of them must have some comments?

Reefmack: Thanks. I have seen photos where a ric has encroached on a neighboring coral (not an anemone in the photos) and it killed it by extending it's filaments.
At this point, there's not much I can do, the ric doesn't move, the anemone is happy right now and so far, there is no sign of war.

Hi Donna. I'm no expert on "who beats who" LOL! I only know who's won battles in my own tank. Hopefully you won't lose anything at all. Let us know if anything happens.

If anybody else's timer is on the fritz, Pinky said that it would be $13 for a replacement plus shipping.

PM me if you need the number or anything.

The lid just rests on the side walls. I have routed around it so it sits into the cup. But to empty just lift like the tunze cup, remove the lid and dump out.

You can see the routed edge here, it fits securely on the cup until it is time to empty.

I'm using a 1/10 aqua euro usa mighty pro chiller that I purchased from reefapalooza for around $260. I keep my tank at 80 in the summer. 78-79 during other seasons here in so cal. My house gets pretty hot and the chiller is able to do its job without running 24/7. Turns on once every hour for a few minutes when it gets really warm.

Mine cost me $250 shipped and I bought it on Ebay. It was a re-conditioned unit from the factory.

Scooterman67 - Nice tank...makes me want to redo/clean mine. Ahhhh to have clean walls and white sand again.
