You Used Chemiclean properly and It didn't get rid of It? Never heard of It not working and I think they say to Contact them If It does not solve you problem. JMO

Chemi-Clean has been known to nuke tanks, and if there's an underlying nutrient problem, the cyanobacteria will return. I'd stop feeding and siphon out what cyanobacteria is easy to get.

Can you describe your setup? Skimmer, size, fish population, live rock quantity, etc?

Yep, heres what happens when you accidently drop a bottle in the sump, and you don't find it until its to late.

Just be careful with the product.

Like Jonathan also mentioned, its good to find the root of the problem.

What is your water chnage routine? How much? How often?

You also mention that you havn't fed your tank in 3 months???

Do you have any macro algae in your sump/refugium?

You can increase flow, up your water change size and frequency. Make sure your skimmer is working properly and watch what you are adding, food wise.

I fought cyano for a long time, chemi clean would always knock it out but it after a few weeks/months it always came back. I still have little bits here and there, but by upping my water movement and upgrading my skimmer I have kept it at bay.

i think cyano is a nightmare to rid, i keep seeing posts saying add a powerhead and it will go, huh crap, id suggest you spend several weeks replacing the water with totally pure nutrient free ro-di water and siphon as much out as possible last thing at night when its at its worse when you water change, also stop overfeeding the tank, the fish will live on lesser rations, and cheato added to the sump will help as the nutrients which fuel the cyano will be used up by the macro algae, the best of luck, its a long term program which isnt easy, but weve all been there.

I'd siphon out as much of the cyanobacteria as is easy to get, and start running a GFO reactor. It might take some time, but that should solve the problem. Keeping a good water change schedule, maybe 5% a week or so, would help some, too.

Growing and harvesting a macroalga can help, too, although that probably is more work and requires getting a decent-sized refugium. Some people have troubles growing the macroalga, for that matter.

watching this therad as i have problem also
used red slime remover i got from Drs.
i did both doses and still a nightmare.do not want to hijack thread everything test great and high flow rodi water and i call it 0+(since it may be a shade difference then 0)

anyway my question to go along thread.now that i used this stuff how do i get my skiimer to stop doing 1,000 times bubbling? i had to turn down air or i would get overflow in seconds so now i have more waterflow getting bubbles in tank.
so been doing waterchanges about 10% every 2,3,4 days(as time allows)
do i need to do a big massive change to straighten skimmer out.

The skimmer will work better eventually. I might do a series of 10% changes to speed the process along. Large changes can cause problems, so I avoid them except in cases of emergency, like an ammonia spike.

Red slime is caused from phosphates. Any level of phosphate over 0.03ppm can casue algae problems. I use Red Sea phosphate test kits, there are better ones but I've had no issues so why fix what's not broken. Get yourself a phosphate reactor and some high grade ferric oxide to put in the reactor. Change the ferric oxide every 2 weeks and do a 20-30% water every 2 weeks as well. Your red slime will disappear in no time as long as you're not overfeeding and stay away from flake or pellet foods.

Red slime is a photosynthetic pest. It requires carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus, as macronutrients, to grow. Carbon can be obtained from the air, so that's seldom limiting. Most of the pests we see seem to require nitrogen and phosphorus from the water column. One or the other won't do.

red Slime

I had tons of red slime for months I did lots of water changes and lots of nitrate remover it takes a long time to get rid of you wont see changes over night be patient and those red slime removers dont work you must lower your nitrates and phospates its caused by over feeding and decay from either dead fish or un eaten food over time.
