Redecorating

Recently, the 5" Peacock I've had for a year, started a seroius redecorating of her tank. Moving large "boulders", 4x her size (Hubby sayd is has to be a "her", because of all the redecorating) & armfulls of sand. She even closed up the main "door" of the cave she lived in for a year & dug out a new tunnel system & door (I haven't found the opening yet. What's with this? I've never noticed a molt from her (although I think she must be eating them, because she's gotten bigger). Is she getting ready to molt or is it just time for spring cleaning?

During the redecorating, she was definately eating. I just found her new front door & offered her a piece of shrimp & she took it.

Take a look at my recent posts regarding the sequence of events leading up to molting. Sounds like your animal is in the early stages of preparing for a molt.

I love to watch her redecorating! She's fascinating, especially with the big boulders. Takes a running start & grabs the rock while flipping her body in the air, so the rock goes over her head & lands right in the intended spot.
