Reef Aquarium 1350 gallons in Bucharest

Thank you Peter! I don't know if I choose well this lighting solution but I think each of us has to try something to achive best practice. Lately there was a lot on your shoulders.
....so thank you for sacrificing a lot of money for our knowledge.
I really appreciate everything you've done for this hobby.

About the corals, anytime with pleasure....

Wowsers!!! great build Andy - I always wanted to use natural light on an install, but have not yet come across the opportunity. However I was thinking that sunlight might be a little on the warmer spectrum of light which might be a challenge for algae. So without having put anything into practice I was thinking that if I ever got to build an aquarium with skylights or solartubes I was thinking of using some sort of blue film or something to filter the light toward the cooler spectrum. The natural depth of coral reefs benefit from dozens of feet of water above to filter out that red/yellow spectrum so maybe we who use only inches of water can get skylights to cheat a little with some good old translucent material... If one is really cheeky perhaps a translucent film can be designed with a colour gradient on a set of scroll-rollers with the intent to simulate different colour temperatures at different times of the day. Who knows... just a daydream experiment at this point. Beautiful build though... some of us daydream while others build. Great work...!!!!:spin2:

Sheldon

awesome.

Best rockwork Ive ever seen. Hands down.
I did have a question about your lighting....

Looked like your exclusively channeling in the sun itself. Is that your sole source?Sorry if I missed it somewhere. My reason for asking is your going to be fighting hair algae like no other. The sun's perfect spectrum will ensure that.

What steps are you taking to combat this?

I thought MACNA was a much bigger show but took me about two hours to see it all. I also asked if there is another exhibition hall but there was only one.

Even if I was not impressed by this event....

Andy

Have you looked into MAX?
I think its in Sandiego march or april 2011.

I do know it will be in Seattle July 23-24. Im pretty excited!
Ive never been able to attend, and it will be a first coming to the northwest.
I was going to try to scrape up enough to fly to California and spend the weekend, but wasn't sure I could manage. But now I can do max for sure!
