Reef Aquarium 1350 gallons in Bucharest

I've just got to say that this is the best hardscape I've ever seen. An absolute inspiration! I cannot wait to see it progress.

I like ATB but Skimz is the best value for money. Skimz also has commercial skimmers.

Peter has an RK2 25PE which I do not recommend but it gets the job done reliably. There are a few DC needle wheel pumps out there if you want to modify a stock skimmer or make your own.

This one generates 3,000 LPH air and still moves a lot of water.

Torsten told me it was 6000 LPH of air and if you can modify a BK500 internal for this pump, you won't find a better skimmer on the planet. Too bad I have an external and not enough balls to modify it as it's much more complicated....

There is some confusion if this is a picture of Torsten's 6,000LPH pump which he is keeping secret until his patent is in place or if it is an earlier model that is still capable of impressive numbers.

I believe the 6,000 LPH pump is designed for commercial and institutional applications. If I have been following correctly, the 215 ABYZZ with this NW is the hobby version which one would use on a BK. Either way, I feel your pain with regard to operating on a healthy BK skimmer/patient :)

Andy,

Hold off on skimmers and flow pumps for a few months if you can as there are a few more DC pump options in development. The ABYZZ is an excellent choice that you won't be disappointed in, but the price is a little out of reach for even the most die hard fans.

I just discovered my ABYZZ 420w pumps have a setting for one second increments so I'm having fun with surges and waves. It looks like the smart way of doing it is to use the ABYZZ 215 w models and dial them down to surge mode. Here is a video showing what you can do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFGASFHEWL8

Hey Andy say Hi to ChingChai for me. I will look forward to details when you get back!!!!

Peter

He did already.

He also told me that he's gonna give one Gem Tang for you as a gift.

OH MAN! I'm following this thread for sure. Fantastic tank and I love the idea of your roof. Something I'm thinking about for sure. I like to make as much usable space as I can.

Well ChingChai I guess that makes us two WILD AND CRAZY GUYS!!!!!!!!!! actually with Andy thrown into the mix it really makes us three WILD AND CRAZY GUYS!!!!!

I am jealous of Andy because he got to see your tank first. I am looking forward to my turn in front of your tank.

I am still waiting for my permanent sump. I can not believe how very difficult it is to get acrylic here. The businesses who make the acrylic tanks just seem very disorganized and they don't seem to care about their customers. These companies I am referring to ChingChai are very large but appear to have very poor discipline when it comes to order management. It has to be one of the most difficult areas I have had to deal with for my build.

I hope everything is going well for you ChingChai. I am looking forward to Andy's trip update when he gets back.
