If the desire is to keep a club forum active on Reef Central, you can organize a new club and we will change the name of this one to the new club you form.

Please let me or any moderator know of your wishes. Feel free to discuss it on this thread. Time is of the essence if you wish to take this step, however.

Reef Central

If it's going to be deleted it would be a terrible loss of all the information that has been gathered over the years in this forum.

The forum would not be deleted in any case, it would be locked to prevent further posts.

I would like to see an active forum remain on Reef Central for the state of WV. As it is, this is the only one. Would anyone else be interested in participating?

Mountain State Reef Society (or anything else for that matter)

If all we have to do is rename the forum how about something as simple is Tri-State Reefers (eastern KY, southern OH and western WV). Anybody else that doesn't want to lose this forum please chime in.

Brian
I don't think we want to start a new club (I know I don't) many of us only want to keep the forum we have on RC open. Since the members posting here don't agree with the forum closure requested by one person is there anyway can the mods just kinda "ignore" the request to lock down our forum?

I think the Tri-State Reefers fits well.

I agree that starting a new club is not the idea, but having a place to chat and possibly arrange groupbuys with locals would be great. For instance the BulkReefSupply club buy thread I posted over the weekend. As I understand it, that does not violate an ReefCentral rules but it did go against the wishes of the CVRC president. It could be awkward doing more of these in the future if the name was unchanged.

There are lots of Tri-state areas though. I think it would need to identify it to the area we are in a little closer. Say like WV OH KY Tri-state Reefers?

Did you read the subheadings in my post :D (Eastern KY, Southern OH, Western WV)
I agree there are many Tri-States and I think that's one reason we didn't consider it years go...but since RC now breaks down clubs into regions it should be the only one in the South East Region.

im down w/ what ever...

keep it open... but i vote for naming it Borg. its not an acronym.. just ya know, we are borg of rc.

I have given some serious thought to this. IF the Mods are willing to allow you all to change the name of this club and if you wish to stay here I see no reason for all these years of data to go by the wayside and become memories in an archive where no one will find it, most of us learned more here than anywhere. Carb is right WV needs a RC presence. If you decide to start a new club I believe that would only strengthen the states standings in the reef keeping arena and would be the best choice. Big cities have multiple reef cubs and I think it's a great idea if it helps promote the hobby.

My biggest concern is confusion, with the www.chemicalvalleyreefclub.com site which has been occurring with more and more new members. If you have your own name there will be no such confusion.

The choice is yours to make now.
As for me this will be my final post,
It's been fun. Whoever takes the reigns next remember you will never please everyone no matter how hard you try, so do what best for your club.

Best of Luck

I would like to see the forum renamed as well. I also wouldnt want to lose any of the info we all have put together over the years. I like knowing the local reefers in the area and don't want to lose those contacts. So lets rename it and move on.

Big Ole Reef Group

or,

Charlestons Ye Big Ole Reef Group,

the first one is better.

resistence is futile.... ya heard.

I dont live in the area anymore but i agree that removing the RC forum would be a mistake. I like to be able to pop in every now and then to see what all my old reefing buddies are up to :D

or simply WVRC so that the state can be identified.
ARC is cool.
Just my opinion but since our posters have always been from all three states I don't think WV should be singled out ;)
said in my best Kentucky twang.

Oh and I think there is already a CARS (Charleston Area Reef Society) in S. Carolina.
