Reef Dynamics skimmers with different pump

Anyone with a reef dynamic INS skimmer running a pump that is not the Sicce or Eheim they came with? I am thinking something along the lines of a Varios 2 or similar in the DC world.

I have read where some have attached a Bubble Blaster pump to them. They use external pumps, so as long as the flow and air draw are close to the original, and the plumbing matches up, you should be able to use another pump.
