Reef Safe Anemones?

I have a 55g tank with a Normal Nova Extreme 54 watt 48" (2) 54w 10k t5 and (2) 54watt 420nm Actinics t5).

Im doing mostly soft corals, and low light LPS in the future.

What types of Anemones will do well in a tank like this? I want to add it first to avoid it plowing through corals.

Suggestions?

If you have a deep sand bed, and your tank is mature enough. I say Long tentacle anemones aka macrodactyla doreensis are reef safe because they like to stay in the sand.

well, I have that same setup. And I see your interested in being awesome, so we have some things in common! LOL
I entered the wonderful world of anemones not too long ago.
First: Green Bubble Tip (purple tips)
Second: Rose Bubble Tip
Third: Awesome blue-green Haitian (not recommended ;) )
The GBTA has tripled in size. It reaches out and actually touches a colony of green zoos, and some green shrooms. they're all fine

My Haitian hasn't moved, and is right by my Rose, and both are fine. but I read that Haitins can be agressive killers. same as my GSM. No problems yet

I'd start with a green bubble tip

i would say a carpet, or a LTA...BTA's are prone to walking around and climbing the rocks...carpets and LTA's seem to like the sand...all can grow in excess of 2' so give them room...

Haddoni carpets prefer the sand, however Gigantea's prefer to be on the rockwork.

funny, haddoni's eat fish but mine touch corals and clams and seem to have no adverse effect on them specifically it has touched montipora and acropora without stinging, whereas bta's have stung everything they touched!

That is funny ( granted in 8 years of keeping Haddonis I have only lost two fish ) my clam is right next to one of mine, and both are fine. Though any time a SPS frag has fallen on my it did damage the frag. However, I wonder if that is because it fell onto it, triggering a feeding/stinging response?

Here is my clam/Haddoni.

wow todd that carpet is striking...sooo blue

interesting how some things just get along in special scenarios

as for a reef safe anemone, I am going to have to be the one who stirs the pot and say no anemone is truely reef safe. All of them may engage in some form of allelopathy (chemical warfare). I have had haddoni's, bta's and lta's and all of them have killed or damaged a coral badly. My haddoni ate fish like I wasn't feeding it at all

There are many corals that sting/have chem warfare, not just nems.
We just have to be careful what touches what.
BTA's are beautiful, but I've read too much about wandering to risk mixing myself unless w/ something like zenia, which seems to tolerate touching.
Both my LTA and sebae have never moved/wandered in over 5yrs, but I do rec having a buffer zone of at least 5" from any corals.
The trick for me is having flow and light that keeps both nem and sps corals happy.

Here is my mixed reef.
I do find my nems easier to deal w/ since they do prefer sand bottom, leaving top room for my light needy sps.
