Reef safe butterfly for 36" tank.
How is that possible lol. I have $3k into my lagoon 25g with getting my Radion used, plus I like aesthetics and I think the Red Sea reefer is very sleek without having to spend $$$$ on a custom trimless tank. I live in an apartment so 70+- gallons is the max I want - I'm on the 3rd floor.
Good to know about DD as I've never bought from them before so never really pay attention to what they suggest for fish ect.

Got the 240 (acrylic) from a buddy used for $500. Built my own stand. Sump is a 75 I got on sale and cut/glued acrylic sheets for separation. Everything else was bought new, but if you save money on the main things, you can severely cut your costs.
There's plenty of used tanks out there, just have to keep your eye out....

Yeah trust me I see tanks everyday used that I would love to buy. Sadly, I live in Louisiana and no one likes nice things here. No trimless tanks anywhere around me. If I lived in California I could buy used elos weekly lol. Everyone here has regular tanks, or they are too far away.

Gotcha. One of my LFSs has a rimless 110 with stand on sale for 1k. I can see who he ordered it from, maybe you can do a special order with yours?

My lfs carries the crystalline line of tanks, specifically the 65g for $1200. Decent price but.... Wood stand that I don't care for, plastic sump not glass, and not a great quality. They do get some tanks from planet aquarium and A.G.E but $$$. Like I said I'll search around a while longer since I'm in no rush but if I can't find a good deal I'll probably just end up with the 250. I like what it offers for the price. Thanks!
To original topic, thanks for info on the fish as well. Guess when the time comes I'll go a little bigger than what I plan or just stay away from butterflies or tangs a while longer.

Longnose atlantic is probably your best bet, but a Tahitian Butterfly is another possibility.

Not a fan of how either of those look, thank you though. Also the long nose has a larger maximum length that the pyramid so probably would not be a good idea. Don't get me wrong, I've seen several tangs and butterflies and other fish all packed into one small tank and all healthy but I'm not going to start a argument here lol just wanted to see if they had any butterflies that would be ok in a 60ish gallon tank since I know from all the tang police posts that none will fit in anything smaller than 4'.

Um no a longnose tops out at a little over half the size of a pyramid? They only get 4" LA says a 50 gallon minimum but bluezoo says 75. But if you don't like the look I guess the point is irrelevant right
Hopefully you'll find something else that works for you.

Yeah you were probably looking at the regular longnose and not the Atlantic. On LA you have to search for it as it's not in stock. I think bluezoo calls them Caribbean

Caribbean longsnout, or maybe one of the smaller species of the Roaps complex (i.e. mitratus, Burgess'). Good luck :dance:

I have a RSM 250 and would not consider putting a butterfly in the tank. If that's the fish you want, I would suggest a larger tank. The RSM 250 works much better for a bunch of small fish. I have 9 fish now and plan on 2 or 3 more. But none of them are larger than 3 inches. It would feel cruel to me putting a 5-6" active fish in there.
