Reef Bass
colors and textures
About 3 weeks ago I had some xenia that was out of control. Little red and blue bandanas pulsing around shooting up the tank.
No really, various clumps had attached themselves to numerous undesired locations and had to be dealt with. I removed them and was pleased with having reclaimed the 'hood.
One clump left a tiny strip of tissue behind firmly attached to a rock. I'm talking less than 1/8" wide by maybe 1/2" long. Rubbing it didn't remove it. It appeared to shrivel and wither so I wrote it off as hermit crab fodder.
Yesterday one of my daughters noticed that that wee thin strip of xenia tissue now was covered with little pulsing "hands", like 50-100! It's as though each microfragment of tiny thread of tissue is growing into its own critter.
I marvel at the tenacity of life and its ability to find a way to keep going. No government bailouts required! Life is amazing.
