Reef Wife of the Month

Ok. So I start this new job a couple of weeks ago that has me working in Dallas Monday thru Friday. And of course, AFTER that happens, my air conditioner in Ardmore goes on the fritz, with me being 2 hours away and unable to perform any tank rescueage.

Fortunately, my wife was there to come to the rescue of my 55 and 20 gallon reef tanks. She dilegently performed ice treatments, setup fans, etc, to get the tank temps down and under control.

When she discovered the problem, our house was at around 95F. The 20g was 93F and the 55g was 89F. Yikes!!! However, by the time she had things under control a couple hours later, they were both down to around 80F. She had to leave them overnight as she was staying elsewhere with the kids (somewhere with AC). But she came back in the morning, applied some more ice treatments, etc.

Anyhow, I officially am nominating her as Reef Wife of the Month! Thank you much, Andrea!!! I look forward to getting home on Friday and seeing my corals NOT all fried and stuff...

Btw, we are making progress on getting the AC taken care of. :)

Also, my wife has wanted a deep freeze for a while. That's now moving up on the priority list for me. PARTIALLY as a reward for her efforts. But also as a place to store emergency frozen 2 liters of water for times such as this. :)

LOL, yeah that freezer is necessary;

Any woman I have been with would have just watched the fish die and go oh why is that happening?

Fortunately most of my fish are wild bettas and can take water temps of 100 F.

you should have left the deepfreeze thing alone at "as a reward for her diligence"....lol Now she knows YOU have your own reasons. LOL :D But that's cool anyway. :)

yeppers - she barely uses email....

though she'd be happy to get the deep freeze no matter WHAT the reason may be...

i guess im lucky as well.my fiance checks my levels tops off my tanks an adds chems as needed, an dosent whine to much when i tell her its time for a water change...she is as hooked as i am..

LOL lyn got on here while I was at work and somehow PM's Travis for help. She was worried bc my anemone was floating around the tank. I thought it was cool bc she had never been on RC before, nor is she some big forum guruhaha

I have to admit, Lynn is a star with my tanks. She regularly tops them off or reminds me to feed the fish. She is more observant of certain things and has a lot of input.

I just wish she had said I could have a bigger tank before I ordered this one....oh well...cant have everything.

P.

yeah, i saw a 1000 gallon tank with accessories in the classifieds on newsok.com for 2300$ today. :D That wouldn't even fit in my house...lol

maybe that was the one that sold last year for $1,000. They come by that often. prices have risen some.

could be..but i wouldn't want a tank passed around by a bunch of people. Too much wear and tear I would think being moved around like that.

Well I must say Mrs. Duck is every husbands dream and every reefers too! Shes easy on the eyes(oh yeah) keeps a outstanding house make a mean supper gets national awards... http://www.pctonline.com/news/news.asp?ID=4336....and still does water changes while I sleep she cleans the glass, tops off the tank, ect. And stands behind me in every decision I make.... WOW ...I truly could not ask for more in my little ole life!

tgwinn, if it is the same one it was in Bass Pro originally.

It may not be that one tho, I really have no idea, but as i said, 1,000g tanks are not common.
