Reefbrite LEDs failing?

I've had reefbrite xho leds for two and a half years. In the last two months for some reason I'm starting to get red algae growth and my large carpet anemone is not opening fully like he used to. Could my lights already need replacing in only 2 and 1/2 years?

What makes you think it's the lights?

Algae growth may ramp up some if the spectrum of light shifts more to red, but your leds shouldn't have that problem. That is a concern for 1 year old fluorescent bulbs, not leds.

I'm surprised that the Reefbright XHO led website page doesn't state what wattage these leds are, but I suspect they are 3 watts. I seriously doubt that the leds are the issue.

I suspect you may have other issues at fault.

Do the reefbrites supplement other lighting? If so, what kind of lighting is it?

Always go back to basics. Fresh media in reactors, increase water change, check your pumps for proper flow, check your heater/controller, check your skimmer, keep filter socks clean, test parameters.

More than likely, one or some combination of those things is the culprit rather than the lights.

How old is the tank/system?

I think they are 3 watt but they run them at 1 watt.

Check your water quality. I have both RB Tech LEDs and XHOs that have been running much longer and there's no degradation of output.
