Reefish123 New Custom 135G Build Thread
First of all I want to give a big thanks to my wife (Melissa) for supporting my in my hobby, because without her support I don't think would be able to do it. Even though she doesn't hang out in RC just want to thank her for her support so "œbabe thank you for your much needed support, love you."
Now as you may know I broke down my 50g cube. Tank was located in my shop for about 7months unfortunately a few reasons which decided me to break down the tank were that the cube was set up at a slope so had an uneven tank, had very little room under the stand, and my equipment cords were all over the place could of easily fried all my electronics with absolutely no drip loops :x. So might as well upgrade now right? That being said I finally decided to hire a contractor to level up my floor and install hardwood floors and as well in against the wall in the tank area, this will happen around Mid-December. In the meantime the new tank will be custom build, and I will be virtually plotting my new tank build using Google Sketch up. This is a really easy way to build a tank, stand, sump, and all most of the equipment used now-a-days. This will help me catch any mistakes before I build this tank.
Now about my new tank this will be a Starphire 3 panel 36"L*30"W*24"H calculating water volume, I'm looking at 112G main display plus another 25G in the sump/refugium. Totaling aproxx 135G I'm not sure if the stand shall be built of metal or wood. I would personally go with wood because cabinetry looks nice as just square tube (which I know it can be covered, but how?)
My overall plans with this tank are mixed reef, also love anthias and never owned one so this would be great time to enjoy vibrant colors and movement. Also I have a pair of designer clowns in a holding tank that will reside this tank and looking for maybe 1 or 2 showcase fish(ideas?).
As far as equipment goes I have a few things already:
X1 Ecotech Mp40w ES
BM-101 Dosing pump
H2o Refractomer
Hanna Ca Test
Hanna Alk Test
Hanna Mg Test
Reef Keeper Elite Controller
Bucket of Red sea coral pro salt
And a ton of other misc. items I can't think of.
Do you guys have any Ideas of what lighting I shall go with please let me know, i can go any route LMK
I would really appreciate your imput and help on this tank as it will be by far the biggest tank i've built, I will accept good comments and if there is anything that you disagree please reply, looking forward to having fun overall and enjoy this beloved hobby.
In the meantime here is a virtual tank that i found on sketchup 3D wherehouse and I scaled it to what looks to be my dimensions of the new tank build using a wood stand.
