Sump gets in tomorrow. My guess is the sump is taller than my output pipe. My only option is to drill a hole in the sump and bulkhead it and run my output to there. I cannot raise the skimmer as it sits under my stand. Does the bulkhead have to be above the normal waterline or can i run it under the normal water line. Secondly, I am planning on having 700 gallons come off the main pump and ball valve it to my skimmer. Can i run regular plastic tubing from nipple to nipple with metal bands? Or will that be too much pressure?

Thanks

Ed

Where will your output ultimately drain? As long is the waterline at this point is below your "T", which will be under the middle of the reeflo logo, you should be o.k. It would not matter if the pipe went for a short run underwater, but, the output cannot be submerged.

The plastic tubing should be fine with metal bands. I have done that before with chillers, etc... You might use a gate valve since the ball valves tend to get jammed up with calcium / etc...

I was about to purchase a Bubble king 250 External for my tank but I was to ask this what you guys think about bubble king 250 versus the reeflo 250? Any opinions other that I am paying a few dollars for the name "Bubble King" :)

I have never had or seen a BK first hand so take what I say with a grain of salt. As far as specs the reeflo 250 is more comparable to the DeLuxe 400 external. I have seen a number of tank with the 250 on it and it is a well built, solid performer. I would save your money and get the Reeflo 250, you won't be disapointed.

I joined the club this weekend :) Mike from Reef Specialty personally delivered since he was in the area. Pics are in my build thread (click the little red house).

So has anyone got any numbers on how much their 250 is actually pulling?

It topped out my Dwyermeter which reads up to 50scfh

I got my skimmer today. This thing is big. Right now I'm running it with vinegar. Tonight or tomorrow I'll put it on the tank.

I guess nobody has compared an counter-current reeflo -250 to a co-current reeflo 250 skimmer ?
Anybody ?

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to let everyone see this baby in action. I have about 550g total with 280g Display, 30g Seahorse, 30+g Infinity (ZeroEdge), 40g grasses, 75g split (RDSB/Refuge), 90g Sump, 20g Long Frag and 10g Special Feeding Species. This skimmer is not having a problem keeping up. The only problem I've had is the "flushing" but this seems to have taken care of its self - I think it had something to do with the water level.

This is when I first installed it.

After a few weeks - love it!

I have had this skimmer for a couple months and love it. It was running great then.......

Recently, I broke the whole skimmer down for a full clean. Now I cant get the water level to stay constant. I turn on the feed pump (mag7) and get it to a 1/2" below the flange then the water level slowly drops to the T height. At first I thought my pump was bad then I put on another pump and the same thing. The water level is not holding at a constant and so when I do plug the Reeflo it overflows briefly then is poping right at the start of the riser tube.. I have been messing with this for two days. Any advice, thanks.

The output is above the water line in the sump. I have the skimmer on a shelf about 4 feet above the sump and the output is 1.5" flex PVC into the sump. I use a bungie cord to kep the output above the water line in the sump. I will take some pics tonight and maybe you guys will see something that I dont.

That's weird because I cleaned mine after I had it set up for two weeks and it has been more consistant after cleaning. And my output is underwater. What's the deal with the output needing to be above water?

I have had mine running for about a month now and it is a little above 60. It works great but that is a huge difference from the advertised 95 SCFM. Any one else check their air draw on the 250? Or any ideas on increasing the flow.

Also what is the size of fitting I would need to add the drain into the drain fitting of the dart? or is their a link to it?
