Finally got a nice piece of it back. I had a salinity spike and killed most of my acro's about a year ago. This was my pride of the tank. Heres an old pic of my last colony. The new one is same lineage, It was from this piece.

Its kind of hard to tell, but I'd say no on the echinata and lean more towards an exquista. Good luck

Not an enchinata IMO, Hard to believe but the branches are thinner than a enchinata.
I do believe its a true deepwater acro though. It does not like alot of light.

not an SPS guy by any means, but i'd vote for anacropora sp.

and the appearance is sorta like ORA's Australia Delicate Stag, no?

FWIW, I know pretty much the entire story behind this particular coral....it's confused a LOT of people here in Toronto as to what the exact genus and species is.

This acro was not originally imported by Reefraft...it is however one of the the most unique SPS out there.

FYI RR get this a hobbyist in the GTA when they trade in frags for credit. I have posted a couple pictures of my two colonies. A very unique species similar to the a.subglabra, the thin branching bottlebrush corals, however the growth form is much different once it gets large.

Congrats on getting a VERY unique acro.

Yes Brian I did get this from wayne. I'll get you a frag so I can have a backup in michigan, Maybe by the lansing swap.
Thanks all for the info its VERY appreciated! I didnt know RR didnt bring it in.
They brought in 5 frags to a swap in michigan. One guy bought 4 frags of it and the guy that bought this one is no longer in the hobby. I am pretty sure i am the only guy in the states with it as the guy that bought 4 frags of it had a tank meltdown and lost them.
This was not meant to be a ID thread. :( Just wanted info on who had it and what it looks like as a colony.
I do appreciate the ID info though!

Gasman, I put a pack up for sale maybe a year and a half ago and no one wanted it. Thats when i gave the frag to a friend which in turn i got back luckaly.

Thanks Alex! I would love to have a frag of it. I'll check back with you. I hope it does well for you once again.

Interesting to hear this frags of this piece made it to the US. Terry would be proud! This will be a showpiece once you grow it out for sure.

Also regarding lighting, I would say it likes moderate light. I have mine mid/upper tank under indirect light form a 400W radium.

Love how the sale of this beautiful coral was done illagelly by RR. Unless they had CITES, then I appologize. Dave you are right, Terry would be proud.

I do think this is a anacropora. I got one in recently too.. but its not that color yet.

I wont comment on RR but I would assume they did all the proceedures to bring them across legally.
Can anybody send me a pm with a link to where i could see more pics of this coral?
TIA
Thankyou 250G!!

I can post a few pics of my coral for you. Mine has a much darker base. RR re-export 1000's of corals with CITES all the time.

250 Thankyou! Thats a very nice piece!! I hope i can get mine to look as good as yours.
It seems to be taking to the tank nicely.
They dont encrust much do they?

no, this coral does not care to encrust that much. My one colony has, the other, after 3 years I could still remove it from the base.

Other pic of mine.

Thanks again, I could look at pics of this coral all afternoon. :) You have a very nice tank there.
Its been a moderate grower for me. Hope to have a nice size colony by next year this time. Its a fragile piece as i am sure you know. It breaks looking at it the wrong way. ;)
