I know you started this thread some time ago, but how was the cost of the stand compared to the tank? Crystal Dynamics made my butthole pucker a bit when they quoted me a price between a 84x30x24 and a 96x30x24, claimed 3/4" is necessary for safety reasons and holy cow that increased the price very dramatically.

But made the idea of a steel stand (and one I don't have to build myself) is appealing. I've done wood forever, might need to go steel if it's a decent price.

I really like how you scaped that tank... and I've made note of your through-wall plumbing as I will do the same thing on mine. Very cool to see the large angel not disrupting the corals. I will not have as many corals as you but I do plan to get two large angels for my 300 at some point down the road.

I was very happy with the pricing from CD in comparison to other manufacturers. They were reasonable & competitive. I could not be happier with the stand they made for me. First time having a wood wrapped steel stand. Looking at it, still looks like a piece of furniture with the added strength & piece of mind. Price was better than expected. Hope that helps.

Thanks a ton, and yes that helps. Every stand I've made has been wood, and built like a brick... well it could probably hold up my whole house. Was thinking about something sleek like a steel frame one with lots of room inside, and while I'm sure I could pick up on how to weld square tubing together, I also realize there's probably a lot of skill involve in welding WELL, and being as it will be holding something around the neighborhood of 5000 pounds I'll let some pros do it :D

Thank you! I'm always trying to make it more spacious. Less rock & more real estate. I decided this time around I would keep my rock work much lower. I'm sure as the corals grow I will be removing more rock too. The dwarf Angels can be tricky but overall my swallowtails & majestic have been great!
As for the plumbing, I absolutely love having open access to my equipment in another room. Not to mention how quiet it is.

What's it like with that powderblue tang

Powder Blue has been great! He went in last with some already established Tangs. Will see what happens as he matures. It's going to come down to the purple, powder & yellow I think. ;)

My wrasses will be safe & secure now with my new screen lid. Love this thing!

Just ordered my tank from Crystal Dynamic but only 150g. Glad you're very happy with them. Tank looks great! Powder blue is my favorite fish

How's the large angel in the reef? That's one of my favorites. I have a blue face that is a model citizen Nice reef!!!! By the way what did u use for your framing on your screen tops?

Thank you! Both the swallowtails and the majestic angels are excellent citizens. They rarely if ever bother any of my corals. The framing of the screen lid is acrylic, poly carbonate. The lid was made by a company called artfully acrylic.
