Reefsavvy's Ghost Overflow: Patent Pending?

OK, just say the video on this thing.
I've seen it before, and sort of forgot about it.

It basically is just similar to a BA Overflow, that keeps the inside footprint very small, (great for smaller DT's) and utilizes an external box also for the plumbing- but you knew that.

The notched part isn't at all new, etc. When set at the proper level, for the proper flow rate, it will keep the DT water level where you want it.

Nothing is new about this overflow. People have been constructing similar overflows with an internal and external box, fed thru some holes/bulkheads.
I myself chose not to have the external box on my build, but could add it in the future if so desired.

I have to at least in part, AGREE with the OP!
All it is in good marketing on a product, that is not a new design, but does look like an OK product.

In general nothing wrong with this 'free marketing', they just are keeping their product and name going by adveritising/marketing skills, and I'm sure some sales too.

Separate my sentences and thoughts with proper punctuation. That is/was proper punctuation, Bud ...

They're what's known, in the grammatical world, as compound-complex sentences lol ... Are you even aware of proper grammar/punctuation ?

But, then again, I wouldn't be "too" embarrassed; 85+% of all members here clearly aren't even knowledgable of that grade school information either

 Whatever makes you feel better about yourself. Its not worth the time to try to break down your "compound-complex" run-on sentence.

By the way, you forgot your punctuation on the sentence that complains about 85% of members here not having "that grade school information". Nice touch.

I have a ghost overflow on order and hope to have it in the next couple weeks. Went with the 16" version for my 60g rimless (just a Marineland tank).

I'm excited for it as it offers the bean style overflow as well as a low profile and the removable grate for cleaning.

Nice acrylic work on the ghost, for sure.

As for oil buildup as was mentioned earlier, I was sure this would happen when I had to go to a reef pool (with no overflow or anything else). Very surprisingly, no oil, particles, or anything else. Crystal clear.

As long as the system has sufficient surface agitation, direct product of an ideal/efficient flow regime, then the stagnant, oil slick esqué, increase in surface tension won't be an issue …

I am in the process of building a 180g I purchased from a fellow reefer and it has a Glass Holes 1500 overflow. I just confirmed with Felix from Reef Savvy that the 16" Ghost will be a direct fit replacement. Hope this information helps those with already drilled tanks looking to upgrade as I was.

I just pre-ordered the 24" ghost overflow for my 100 gallon build. I could have probably gotten away with the smaller overflow, but I wanted the weir to be as big as possible. I thought about making my own, but by the time I have the acrylic cut, order the fittings, then build it. The cost starts to come close to buying one not to mention my time. I like diy, but this time I just want to set up the tank. I'm going to have enough to do with the plumbing, wiring, and building my LED fixture plus aquascaping. The only mod I'm going to make is adapt an AC gearmotor to the Vertex zeolite reactor that I bought used off of CL for auto shaking of the zeolith. :)

I like the overflow, and think it will be worth it.

I feel the same way about DIY LEDs as you mentioned about a DIY Ghost... about the same price as the cheaper LEDs (that have a good track record) and those don't include my time! :)

I couldn't agree more! I'm more intrigued building a LED fixture than a overflow. Money will be definitely be saved with the fixture and I'll get it the way I want it. I was getting ready to get the materials for the overflow, but I started adding up the cost and it was getting expensive. I brought the cost down using sch40 instead of sch80 (I like the grey fittings), but it was still expensive. I hadn't ever gotten a quote for the cutting of the acrylic yet, but I figured with the black acrylic I was going to use it was going to be pricey.

All I want to do is drill the holes in the tank and install. One less thing I have to worry about.

NeveSSL I did find a 100 gallon glass tank with a cabinet stand for $50 bucks from a forum member on the local forum. The stand needs work, but I'm going to have it reinforced and have one side on the left end a removable panel or door for a electrical compartment. I have another person from the same forum that is going to reinforce and refinish the stand for me. Just need to figure out a timeframe and cost. :)

My 16" ghost just arrived. I'll post some pics this weekend.

Really! very cool! :) how long did it take you to get it? I'm talking about from the time you placed the pre-order to the time they sent you the notice that it was ready to ship and they where waiting for payment. The only thing I don't like is that I have to pay by check or money order.

Post lots pics! I really want to see it!

I paid 9/18 and Rick said it would be about a month. He shipped on Tuesday. It would have shipped sooner, but he was building a custom sump for me as well. Flawless work from that guy!

They just sent me an invoice this morning for the 24" overflow. I think I'll drop the money order in the by next Friday. No hurry since by the time I get it will be about the time that I'm ready to set up my tank. :)

@flamron post some pics when you have some time. I'm really curious about what it looks like. Seen the pics online, but I'd like to see one that is just about to be pulled out of the box.
:)

Here are some pics of my 16" ghost

Best overflow out imho. Low profile inside the tank, silent, redundant, innovative, reef savvy quality... I'm getting one!

Is rick on RC? I'm trying to get a rush order for the 16" box, but didn't have any luck in calling them yesterday ("Unfortunately, we are not providing rush orders at the moment."). I feel like talking to him is my last resort... Otherwise, I will have to settle for a glass-holes overflow. Are there other manufactures that have a similar design to the ghost? Can you purchase a BA overflow?

I'm pretty bummed, I just assumed these would be ready to ship after MACNA and Reefapalooza. :(

He's not on RC.

As high a volume as they look like they have, along with reef Saavy needing them for their tanks, I don't think they'd have any room for a rush order. Especially since he's doing sumps as well.

Thanks,
Looks like I'll be considering DIY BA or purchasing a glass-holes.

If you guys didn't know already the ghost overflow is actually built by Synergy Reefs and sold through Reef Savvy
