I would add both tangs at the same time, or the PBT last. If you have to add fish after the PBT, do it with the lights off.

ok i think that he will be near the last fish added which i wont be getting him for awhile then. But idk i might get him early and then put him in the 37 for qt. My dad wants that tank out because it wont be used but if i get him he will be. But if i have to take the tank down then i will either put him in a very long accumulation. Do you think if i add the sailfin before the PBT will there be a problem.

Melev question for you. Do you still have your flame angle? If you do does he ever pick at any corals of yours?

No, back in '05, he died. He was a pretty good citizen, although he did nip at some Montipora digitata unfortunately. The rest of the reef he left alone.

here is what liveaquaria said about the PBT what do you think.

If you were to add a Powder Blue Tang to a 90 gallon tank, it may outgrow it within a year or less. Also, it’s not just the size of the Tang that determines the tank size, but how territorial it can be. They require larger aquariums with many hiding areas and room to swim.

I agree with them 100%, which is why I said to minimize your fish load with competition with the space they swim in. We designed our 75 so he would be the only free roaming fish... everything else was rockwork fish or two clowns that hover.. he had the rest of the tank for himself.

If you buy a 3" I doubt he will outgrow it in one year.. but it's possible with a healthy fish and a lot of food. With a lot of fish in the tank, you will have territorial issues for sure.. bc as they get bigger.. they get more aggressive.

IMO if you don't want to upgrade your 90, stay away from them. The Achilles will be even worse. I'm not trying to be TP, it's just how it is with these fish. Even in my 120, it's too small for a full grown PBT.

yes ok this is what i decided. I am not going to go with the PBT or any of those tangs i thought of. Maybe a purple or a tomini. Because when i get a bigger tank later in life then i will have the room for more tangs. So i will either go with a purple tomini or some kind of foxface.

yea i think i am going to go with the tomini because they are great grazers and they are around the same size as a regular fish. That way i can add more fish.

Ok guys i just got done doing the testing of the tank and it looks great. I think the tank is coming along finally. Well here are the old test for a reference of the changes.

These are the old test from 2/04/08.
Nitrate- 7.0
Ammonia- 0.25
PH- 8.4
Nitrite- 0.25

These are the test from today. 2/11/08

Nitrate- 4.0-5.0
Ammonia- 0.10
PH- 8.2
Nitrite- 0

So they water has gotten better. One question there is these little white dots on my overflow will try to get pics but i don't know how they will come out any ideas what they are.

Tomini sound like a good addition. Water seems to be getting better. Cant wait to see it all stocked and finished

I think i am pretty much sold on the tomini one because i love the color of the fish. Two because it grazes all the time and i love watching my tangs pick at the rocks. Three this is a small tang and will let me put more fish in there. I know i cant wait to i get the first fish in there and my first coral. But i know i have to be patient and make sure everything is good before i put the fish and corals in.
