The test kits you have may be perfectly good enough for what you need right now. It will depend on how old they are and how you are using them. If you are following the instructions, consistently, and they are not out of date, then you should be able to track the progress of your tank parameters. It's all about consistency at this point. This is where keeping a log of the results will help you out, as you can see how, when, to what extent, your parameters are changing.
If you must have some of the best, then Salifert is known to be a very good maker of test kits.
As far as your current parameters go, they aren't too bad considering the set-up. Once you get a little more flow, and the rock cures a little, we'll see how they shape up. That is why it is important to monitor consistently at this point, to see when the changes occur (ie - the cycle).
Question - Did you add any of the sand and or rock from your other tank? Or just use the new "live" sand you bought?
