Do the heaters ever turn off RT6? If they are always turned on, and you have them turned all the way up, then you need to rethink how you are going to heat this tank, because your current set-up is not working.

Please describe in detail how you are measuring the temps (time of day, upstairs/downstairs/both? Calibrated thermometer etc..)

The heaters do turn off. They are on for awhile then turn off for maybe a minute and then turn back on. I think i will buy another heater. But first i have to see how much wattage i can put into that one wall. I measure the temps every hour or so. I measure them from downstairs and up.

What size are your heaters? Maybe they are too small? I like to run several heaters so that if one fails I don;'t fry the or chill the tank.

And I am sorry for those purists who will only have back of the house heating in a sump but I spread my heaters around the system so if the main pump fails (which mine did due to a GFI interruption) you don;t loose the tank or fuge or frag set up or whatever. Heater my be ugly but if you do not have excellent ambient temperature control, (like me) they save lives!

My heater in the upstairs tank is a 300w. Its rated for tanks up to 80 gallons. I also have another heater in the sump which is a 20g heater sorry dont know how many watts. I think i will need to go buy another heater for this reason. The temp of the tank is at 74 know and has been staying there for a little while. When i get the light hopefully it will raise it up a bit. Then after that i will see what it is and see how many watts i have going in to that one outlet. Then i will go buy another heater.

I'll calm down when I'm good and ready, 6
What can I say, I'm addicted... I want to see livestock flourishing in this new tank.

If the heaters are turned up all the way, and they never turn off for more than a minute or so at a time, then yes, you need more heating power. Your ambient house temps (especially downstairs I would imagine) are keeping the water temp down. If the current draw on the upstairs outlet gets too much, then by all means put the larger, new heater(s) downstairs in the sump. I think if you rely on the lighting for the additional heat input, the tank temps may swing too much after lights out. The dark period would coincide with your house temps declining around the same times. Could be bad for the tank overall.

How much snow did you guys get yesterday, heard is was pretty white out that way?

OK thanks rumlad. Well this is what i am going to do. I will get the light and see how much power i can really plug into that outlet. Then i ll see what kind of heater iam going to get. Down here we got about 4-5 inches.

Light did not arrive yet. Tank is still at 74. But other then that i was playing around on my Sunday afternoon playing with the camera and i thought i got some pretty good photos. Tell me what you think. I think these are better then the others.

Did not turn out that well.

Ok i am still trying to work on my camrea skills. I think one of my problems is that sometimes i rush the pictures and i move my hands to much but i am going to keep on practicing. Practice makes perfect!!

Very Nice looking!
It's fun seeing other 90's being built up around the same time mine is. Keep up the good work!

Yes i love seeing other tanks that you are building as others. This gives you some more advice and some ideas to go along with and you never know you can give people your advice.

Ok guys has been a while since i updated on everything. Ok first the light

I ordered the light and they are out of stock right know and they are going to get a shipment of them in either tomorrow Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. They will send me all the information on Monday probably and it will take about 4-5 days to get here.

Second thing about my sailfin.

My sailfin has been doing great and he is eating everything i put in the tank and he is very fat and even has grown a little. I think this tang is great but one thing i noticed today was that my sailfin had ich i panked thinking he hasent even shown a sign of ich in the past 2 months and know he has it. But i think he just go a little scared and broke out. I will feed him nori and pellets and flakes and i hope he gets back to his normal health. This is weird thought because he was fine untill know maybe he is really out-growing the 37 and is ready to be moved but i am not ready for that yet. But i am almost there. So i think he will pull through and i will see how he is doing tomorrow morning and then go from there.

Can I ask why you don't think you are ready to add fish to the 90?

How is the HLLE affected tang doing? We don't hear too much about him these days, just your new additions :(

The reason i am not ready for my tank is that the temp is still not up to where it should be. I want it around 80 and its at 73-74. My cousin is coming over to take a look at it today. The hippo tang was brought back to the fish store because someone might buy him there and cure him but i highly doubt that. I just brought him back to the fish store.

You could try feeding garlic soaked foods to the tang. What sort of corals are you going to add, SPS, LPS?? How many heaters do you have? if you have one then maybe adding a second will stable temp.
