i am not sure about that yet leaning towards a no because they are heard to destroy your whole reef tank because they move around a lot. I would like to get one but because of that i dont want to.

The light will be here tonight so excited!!

Got another 300w heater and the temp is slowly rising up its at 75 right know and has been on for about an hour.

Ah, So it must have been a faulty heater then. Maybe you can get the fish in this week?

well right know i have both running so ill see what happens if the temp is good by tonight maybe tonight i will add some put i dont know.

what are the tank specs? im curious because im trying to decide wether i should setup a 90 or a 120 but i want the tank with the least depth because i want to go with 8x39w and if i go with that on a 18" deep then i could probably get some SPS

what happend to starting slow, with softies, to make sure your husbandry skills are in order before you plunge into the intermediat, and expert care needing corals?

remember rt6, dont rush yourself. you've been very patient thus far. you dont want to end up getting into more than you can handle from the beginning....

i am glad to see that you paln on avoiding anemone, at least for right now. that is a wise decision. your right about them moving around, because they will. but more importantly, anemone require pristine water qualty,and expert care. something you need to make sure you have a handle of before you make big decisions on your inhabitants.

Ok yea i will probably start with some Softies and zoos and then make my way up the chart.

There is not going to be an anemone in the tank to hard to care for and can destroy a lot of your money which i dont want and iam pretty sure a lot of people dont want to happen to them to.

Got the light. This is a great fixture i will post pics later.

The temp is still at 75.

Ok guys i have had this problem for a little bit. But i do have 2 300w heaters down in the sump and the water will not go past 74-75 its staying in that range. Both heaters are on the bottom of the sump and the knob is all the way up. What should i do to get the temperature up? This is the only thing that is holding me back from adding the fish.

Kar as for the foxface and the sailfin they will stay in the qt tank for a little longer then the clowns. The clowns are my test fish. I will let the clowns swim in there for a week and then see how they do. Then after that week i will put the sailfin and foxface. Right know i am battling ich with my sailfin so i dont want to add him just yet. The tank is 48 length
18 high and 20 width.

600w of heat in what is probably 100g of water? Something isn't right. Can you use a different thermometer to compare?

RT6.... Something is def wrong with the heaters.... I have a 300 watt and a 100 watt in my 90 with a 55 gal sump and a 15 gal fuge and my temp never goes below 79.1 When my lights are on I get up to 80.0 but thats the highest. I run 2 150 watt hqi's with 4 pc actinics the outer orbit fixtures. Is your basement heated? Is the sump on a concrete floor? This could be the issue!

Ok guys 600w of heat is for 160 gallons of water both are rated for 80g. I will try to use another thermometer. OK maybe the old 300w heater isnt even heating the water and just the one 300w heater is the temp right know is at 75.6. The sump is in the basement and is not on the floor the temp down there is about 60-65 degrees. Maybe i will switch the one 300w with the 100w and see what happens.

Even with the cooler basement, the temperature doesn't make sense to me.

Let's see some close ups of those heaters, the setting, etc. You have double the heat I would use on that tank.

yea i know thats what i dont understand about it. I am using almost double the heat for the tank and temp just wont go past 75 i dont know why. Its really confusing.
