I see that the HOB overflow is the u-tube style. I used one on my 55 and had no problems with it, as long as you know it's limitations. You have to have enough water flowing through it so that any bubbles that get in the u-tube get pushed all the way through. Otherwise, they will build up and break the siphon.

flyguy's right - the box inside the fuge will determine the water level in the tank, so if you want the water level where it is now, you'll have to raise the inside box.

Everything's looking good! Thank God for the helpful folks here on RC - I'm sure my living room would be an olympic pool if it weren't for some of their suggestions!

Man! Everytime I see an opportunity to put in some useful info, I start typing, submit it, and then realize melev beat me to the punch!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with that. If anything, it reinforces what's been said when several post similar suggestions.

i will defintely read that article and try to call the local fish store JCpatella lol that does happen a lot but its ok its telling me that people are agreeing with other people

Question Does My Skimmer look like its running right??

Skimmer - It won't run right until you have salt in the system.

Also, do you see that bubble in your u-tube? The flow has to be fast enough to push that out.

Raise the inner box of that overflow box 3" please. Then take another picture.

You need that airbubble out of the U-tube.

EDIT: Oh, it's on now! Beating me to the post. What will people think?! ;)

YESS!!!! I specifically wrote that as quickly as possible! I just needed to do it once. I'm done - you can get back to beating me again!!!!

lol i will do that and i will post pics later. Do u think i should add salt all at once or at a time so i dont over do

Add the correct amount in the main tank. 1/2 cup salt per gallon. Once it has had a couple of hours to mix, then test it and see how much more you need to add. I've asked you twice what salinity you wanted, but now I'll just tell ya to get it to 1.026 sg for a reef tank. :)

oo sorry didnt see that yea i would like it around 1.025 or 1.026 and i did try moving the inside box up and it did not get rid of the bubble i will try again and see what happens i will probably be adding the salt tomorrow i will post pics.

Moving the box up won't get rid of the bubble. You have to increase the flow through it. Try opening the ball valve that goes to the fuge a little more. This should help push the bubble through.

ok i did try that and i got the bubble a little smaller so i will try to do it again and see if it gets it smaller. Probably going to add salt today will post pics

I added the salt and everything looks good here is the sump and the fuge
