Lol love that comment it so hard for me to get money and i know it will take me a long time but i hope all my hard work that i put into this will pay off. I wish i had a job but i am not old enough for one just yet.

Ok guys a little off topic from where we are at right know but i cam up with a new fish to add I really dont want the foxface because the might pick at corals and i dont want that to happen to me. But instead of the Hippo tang i think i like the Convict also tell me your thoughts or should i not do this.

When I was 15, I worked in a flower shop each afternoon after school for cash. My job was to wrap individual wires with green tape. They used the wires to keep flowers straight, and the green made them blend in.

At that age, there are labor laws. Typically something like 2 hours per day, 10 hours per week max. Minimum wage was way less too.

yea thats why i am very thankful that my Dad has his own business so i can go to work with him when i need the money and to help him out. What do you think about the Convict Tang

What kinds of corals do you plan to keep?

LPS, Softies, Clams, Anemone, Maybe SPS and some zoos maybe. I heard that if SPS die they leave something in you tank.

oo ok thats what i thought about the hippo thats why i decided to change my mind and i thought they would be to big for my tank and i also thought the convict would be a little better of a choice.

I either want to go with the convict or Tomini because i love watching my tangs pick at the rocks its just so peaceful and cool to watch. Unless you guys think that this i a bad idea

Not a bad idea if you have decided that is what you want in your tank.
Now you have to consider what else that animal will need.

Space? - How big will it get? Does it need a lot of swimming space, hiding spaces, rocks to graze? Once you can answer these types of questions, you will know how much rock you need, how to aquascape etc..

Now, back to today. Forget about the need for the lights in order to add the sand. Get it in there! The sand DOES NOT need light to function. Your skimmer will start working a little, you may even add some of your old sand and start a mimi cycle going. Why not?

Thanks for the replay RumLad one problem my old tank does not have sand its crust coral. As for the rock structure i wanted to do possible to islands and a little space in the middle for the fish to swim through. Is that a good idea or should i go with something else pics would be helpful if you have any ideas. As for the tangs i will definitely pick the smaller tang because i want to get a lot of fish in my tank but not to much to get over stock. Ok well i did some research on the Convict and the Tomini and the Tomini seems that it would be a better choice for my tank because both on Bluzooaquactics and VividAquariums they said it only grows to about 6-7 inches and they say for the convict that is grows to 11 and in a book i have it says the convict grows to 10.2 but there is not anything for the Tomini in there what do you guys think.

Question for everyone do you think i should have my heater in the sump or in the main tank right know i have it in the sump but i dont think its doing the job all that well

With the return pump moving the water up to the tank upstairs, the heated water should be adding as quickly as the water drains. It shouldn't make any difference.

Unless, of course, that plumbing is too restrictive and isn't going up as quickly as you'd hoped. Larger plumbing would resolve that. ;)

Good, now that the SG is about where it needs to be, dump that sand in. It's okay to add some of the crushed coral from your old tank as well. It will get mixed in with the sand and add lots of biodiversity.

Dump it in, Dump it in, Dump it in...

As for the heater, it should be just fine where it is in the sump, unless of course there is a hint of truth to what melev has been trying to tell you

are you sure its such a good idea to add sand from the old tank??? while it will add bio-diversity to the new sandbad, it might also add some "un-wanteds" to the new tank?
not quite sure what the red stuff is in the old tank, but surley it should stay as far away from the new tank as possible? although in most other cases i would agree 100%...
so whats your plan after you get the sand in the tank rt6? are you going for rocks or lights? i would personally go for the rocks. neither the rocks or the sand need light while your tank cycles. plus, the longer the sand and rocks spend in the tank before you add anything, the better!
somehow i get the feeling that as soon as lights go on that tank, so do fish!?!? i could be wrong?

I'm not sure about the Tomini, but convicts are really easy to keep. Yes, they can get huge, but they probably won't be growing very rapidly in your tank.

Convicts are easily bullied by other fish (especially other tangs). Which means, they're usually not able to feed enough to get bigger. They usually graze in large groups which help for protection. I've had my convict fo 6 months, and he's only gotten fatter and not longer.

Here's a couple pictures of him.

This picture was a while back.

This is him now

I know it's hard to tell with the different compositions, but it'll give you a hint as to how big they can get.

These statements are incorrect. A tank will not determine a fishes growth rate, nor how they grow. I would avoid a convict all togeather in a 90. I would wait for any kind of tang until your tank and skills have matured.
