I am going to be making a purchase from Reeftopia.com in the next few days if anyone is interested in getting anything.

This is the only place I have found my Orange flower anemone.

Everyone when they see always ask where I got him.. Now is the time to get one. Very Hardy anemone IMO..

yeah, those flower anemones have got to be almost impossible to kill. i have one living in the pico under 24 watts and temps go from about 72 to 80 at times.

What substrate are you using Matt?

If you're using Southdown or a facsimile don't bother.

i have sand... is that bad? do they need to live in mud? i remember finding them alive in florida living on basically broken shells.. not that soft.

They wipe out all the fauna of a sand bed like horseshoe crabs do. They don't really thrive in a reef tank so it's just "wait for them to slowly die" situation. Not that other things we keep don't have shortened lives but they mess with the sand bed too much in the meantime.

I believe that they are herbivores Roy.

According to Ron Shimeks book they'll need a sandbed at least 4" deep but are otherwise good reef animals.

looks like there out of stock on sand dollars but if anyone gets one pick me on up too, i got plenty of spaghetti worms in my sandbed to keep fed for a while

If Dr. Schimek says they're good then I'd go for it. I could have sworn though that when I had a friend offer to bring back a couple from Destin and I looked it up and it wasn't a good idea. I'll have to look into it again because they're cool.

Are you sure it was not water temp. related?

He cautions to make sure of where they come from. Apparently they must be very sensitive to temperature. One from Destin might be a good candidate for a lobster tank setup where it could be kept a little cooler than tropical reef temps.
